    1996 7.4 fuel pressure?

Toyed with doing a Banshee, but reverse is cool. I'm a big 2 stroke fan for certain sophisticated 2 strokes such as Banshee and the old Suz and Kaw quadracers. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    1996 7.4 fuel pressure?

If you find you need a rail, I have one....somewhere. As said, never heard of one failing. everything attached to it will. I went with a carb and had great results. Still have all of the injection parts. I'm off and on here, so pm if you find you need the rail. . You got lots of cool...

'97 K2500 Suburban L29 454 ---Replacing Rear Engine Seal and Oil Pan Gasket

You indicate the engine ran well, doesn't smoke, cranks OK. If so, and the oil pressure guage was above zero hot idle, I'd leave the engine bearings alone. If the bearings are that worn, so are the pistons, rings, wrist pins, lifters, cam, drive chain, ad infinitum. If it wasn't knocking on...

1994 chevy rcsb AC hi pressure line seized in both ends. What to do?

Dual AC orifice on Vortec is in the middle of the line just behind the rad support. Near right front of engine. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

1994 chevy rcsb AC hi pressure line seized in both ends. What to do?

One other quick point. Heat and compressor oil/freon smoke is toxic. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

1994 chevy rcsb AC hi pressure line seized in both ends. What to do?

It's probably galled up. Even if you get it apart you'll need a new condenser and a new end on the line. Condensers aren't real expensive. The lines are a bit rich, but easy to repair. The dryer will be replaced also. The big fittings on the dryer require BIG wrenches even with good...

    Need help with A/C Compressor

Even with leaks, it won't cycle if switched off. The cycling is normal at idle when 'ON'. The cycling if in "off" and defroster is not on, is not normal. Could be a bad AC control dash switch, or maybe a relay failure. Or a short adding B+ to clutch wiring. Could be "hotwired?" Sent from...

    NV3500 and NV4500

Let me add that 3500s use techie lube and it is vital that the correct lubricant be used. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    NV3500 and NV4500

Depends on what you're after. The 3500 is a nice light shifting well spaced ratios trans. A 4500 is a truck transmission. Big and bulky shifting and has odd ratios. If you don't bang on it, a good '94 and up 3500 is a nice item. I ran one behind a 489 for 5 years without a problem...

    Nv4500

454 Vortec will accept any cast iron engine SB or BB bell housing. The difference is the top center bolt and it can be left off, or whatever. That said, the bell housing must match the clutch release mechanism. "Ramshead" or "external slave". Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    454 (7.4L) swap / repair options - 1999 Suburban K2500

By the time one professionally rebuilds a 454, using quality components, fitted nicely (rare) the investment will rival a GM performance crate motor. A crate motor that's maintained will outlast the truck. A poorly fitted engine will empty your wallet and never be useful. Either way...

Wonder if a 401 V6 would fit into a 1999 'Burb? And the Spicer 5 spd and...WTH, the 2 speed? The engine was offered in 3/4 ton pickups and 'Burbs. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

    454 (7.4L) swap / repair options - 1999 Suburban K2500

Not to get too far off...but a bit of history if you will. I once had a Chebby gas 401 V6 that was quite respectable in those days. A smaller version was sold in Suburbans. 401 was bullet proof if used as designed. Seem to remember less than 3k recline? 5 speed/2 spd and it worked...

    454 (7.4L) swap / repair options - 1999 Suburban K2500

Be advised that a K2500 at 2500 RPM in OD and 4:10 rear is traveling about 80 MPH. 3500 offers 103 MPH. Pulling at 55-65 MPH you'll range 1700 to 2200 and this is where you want, at the least, be well into the cam torque curve. In no way would you aim at a "2500 to 3500" torque peak...

    454 (7.4L) swap / repair options - 1999 Suburban K2500

The functional RPM range with 4:10 and OD is about 1500-3000. 3000 in top gear will be 85-90 or so. 'Burb don't happily go that fast. 3500 is easily doable, but the truck will require major changes in order to operate at that RPM. Keep in mind that Vortec '96-'99 have much better heads than...

    454 (7.4L) swap / repair options - 1999 Suburban K2500

They flow plenty as is. Increasing flow, beyond matching ports, will create no benefits for towing. And don't polish the runners. 454 mods are not after high RPM. Anyway, "porting" truck heads is pointless. Gotta focus on towing. If you want a screamer, go with light truck, and...

Here's one if the best Vortec BB cam kits. Don't go radical if you want to tow. Especially if you go manual. https://www.jegs.com/i/COMP-Cams/249/K01-415-8/10002/-1 Be sure you understand what else is required to modify such things as cams in non-adjustable valve train. Sent from my...

    454 (7.4L) swap / repair options - 1999 Suburban K2500

You have an excuse to tear it down. No oil on two rockers is bad news. You could see if the rocker travel is the same on that bank. You might find it isn't. Could be trashed lifters. Shove a small pencil magnet into the pan drain plug hole and see what sticks. Might be surprising. You...

    454 (7.4L) swap / repair options - 1999 Suburban K2500

These modern diesels kick butt. HP and torque are incredible. Gas cannot begin to compete. Diesels are less than ideal for DD. And they are quite expensive to own and maintain. And don't ever break one...gawd hep you. One other thingy about diesels are the "bad" years. Diesel buyers...

    454 (7.4L) swap / repair options - 1999 Suburban K2500

He already has roller cam. '99s have decent heads too. Nothing like the '95 and down peanuts. The rockers can be converted to adjustable. One thing to be aware of is final height of valve train. If the OEM throttle body is retained (factory FI components) the low profile valve covers are...

    454 (7.4L) swap / repair options - 1999 Suburban K2500

L29s are tough on cams. But they generally go further than 150k. A curious noise at valve speed could be a loose rocker stud. They are simply bolts. They'll back out and sounds like a flat lifter...but still runs ok early on. As OP dedcribed head gaskets and such..who knows. An 8.1 is an...
