Up for sale is a like-new 1999 GMC New Sierra 1500 truck owner's manual with case from the original owner for $15. This is from my friend's original owner truck. It is in mint condition. It even comes with the salesman's business card and supplement materials provided at time of purchase. Free...

ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME

Going out on a limb here. In my personal experience, I would suspect one or both of your rear wheel cylinders are bad. Did you pull the rear drums to see if one or both are wet? These are frequently froze up internally and even if they aren’t leaking they will cause an uneven application of rear...

    Loud Whine from Transmission Today

Besides junkyards, you can try looking at Marketplace ads or even Craigslist. I know a lot of people around me part these trucks out. Then you can talk to them face to face about how the transmission is. Still no guarantee that it will be ok but you have a better chance.

    Loud Whine from Transmission Today

Yes, I think you are right. Sounds like the tranny retired. You could try to find a good used one and swap it in yourself if you want to save some cash.

    Loud Whine from Transmission Today

I am just going to throw this in. Probably not your problem but I have a 5-speed in my truck and I thought for sure that the transmission was on its way out because it used to howel and the gear shift would vibrate so bad especially at highway speeds. Then one night on the way home from work the...

    CL-Fault: 5.7 Vortec

I would try to find someone on FB Marketplace or Craigslist that is parting one out to get a used cat. Federal regulations say nobody can sell used cats. That’s why the yards won’t sell them. You can agree on a price then buy the clamps from them for that price and let them give you the cat. for...

    1990 GMC K1500 restoration

My ‘91 doesn’t have headrests either. So I guess I have the last year for headrestless seats. I kinda wondered about that.

1994 Sierra 1500 stalled in road and won't start

You forgot one more under step 2...Vacuum. You can have the big 3 and still not run if you have a mechanical issue that’s interfering with timing or not being able to produce enough vacuum. Correct all of that and you will be on your way.

    Vacuum or air leak?

Thanks for the heads up. I will take this into consideration. I thought new cats were priced much higher. I hear about the crackheads that try to steal them all the time to sell.

    Vacuum or air leak?

Probably, but we don’t have any emissions or safety inspections here. I would be more inclined just to drain it out and hollow it out. But my guess is that the O2 sensor would sniff that out and set a CEL. I could drain the contents into a coffee can and take it to a scrap yard and make a couple...

    Vacuum or air leak?

That’s what I was thinking as a possibility, a clogged cat. I never had one go bad before. It only has 150,000 miles on it, but it is 30 years old so anything is possible. Seems odd that it just started after my last fuel stop, but that could be just a coincidence. That’s why I thought it may be...

    Vacuum or air leak?

Ok, here is a new one. After almost a 1,000 mile trip, after the last fuel stop before I came home. All of a sudden on my acceleration to get back on the interstate, I hear this hissing that increases with throttle input. Also seems like there is a drop in power. It sounds like it’s coming from...

    88 1500 5.0 throttle sticking closed

X2 on what these guys are saying. JUST CLEAN YOUR THROTTLE BODY FIRST. This is normal PM maintenance anyway. Even if it isn’t your problem, it will give you a place to start. I have seen a few trucks with the exact same problem you have and they were all fixed with a simple spray down of the...

    88 1500 5.0 throttle sticking closed

I usually use Gumout. But any good brand will do. Just make sure you get throttle body cleaner and not old fashioned carburetor cleaner. Supposedly carburetor cleaner is not good for throttle bodies. You can probably get a can at your local Walmart or any of your favorite parts stores for a few...

    88 1500 5.0 throttle sticking closed

Have you ever cleaned your throttle body? The accumulated dirt, carbon deposits, and fuel residue will cause that. Just get a can of throttle body cleaner and spray down your throttle body inside and out. Pay particular attention to both sides of the throttle plates. I do mine every time I...

    Help. Chasing a hesitation issue

You never mentioned anything about your fuel filter. A partially clogged fuel filter will act like that. It won’t have full flow under high demand. For a few bucks it wouldn’t hurt to replace it if it wasn’t done for awhile.

Strange beads in 5.7L Vortec intake box

Hate to ask what happened to the hamster? You didn’t give it to Mr. Slave from South Park did you? BTW, I dig the bumper sticker.

what is the part number for the c1500 1989 emergency parking brake lever complete assembly?

If you don’t have any luck at that third yard, you may want to try Craigslist or FB Market Place. Someone near you may be parting one out. Seems like there is always someone around me trying to part one out.

    Broken manifold bolts

From the original pics. it looks like you have enough sticking out to get a bite on with a pair of vice grips. Does anyone you know or work with have a little torch? Even those little butane ones will work. It takes a little longer, but you can still heat it up enough. That’s what I used to use...

    Broken manifold bolts

I don’t have a welder, but I have a small oxygen acetylene torch set. Anytime I have a bolt that I can get my vice grips on I just heat up around it until it’s red, snap my vice grips on it and walk it out. Once you get it going, don’t worry about it cooling off. Works every time!

How to get rid of jack holder in truck?

The one in my truck was broke off when I got it. So I went to the junkyard and found a nice complete set in red like I wanted. I didn’t want to tear it up with my vice grips so I found a couple of nuts on an alternator bracket on an Olds Cutless a couple of vehicles down. Sprayed it with...
