    What is "Bad" MPG for a '94 5.7L ?

The same thing could be said about horsepower.

    89 c2500 lift question

This is as I understand it. I was just clarifying because the OP never stated whether he is 6 or 8 lug.

    Steering issue

It could be your bushing. Which there are 8. Two each control are. But the culprit is more likely tie rods or ball joints.

    89 c2500 lift question

This is only true for 6 lug 2500s. 8 lug will match 3500s.

I believe there is a very long list of thing people wonder why GM didn’t make factory.

    Crate engine vs rebuilding opinions?

Crate motors are great for stock replacement and quick turn around. Taking your current engine to a machine shop is good if you have specific power goals or build criteria in mind. Or just wish to support local small businesses. Personally I take all of mine to machine shops to rebuild.

    gstubbz's trucks

I’ll second that motion. 6.0 and 5.3 use the same crank and connecting rods. Pistons are different. I’m sure you can find a stock 5.3 rotating assembly for cheap.

    When my GMT400 isn't enough...

The number one problem with the TBI big block is low compression. Rated at 8.5. Some have measured out to as low as 7.5. GM did this to combat NOX emissions. Number two problem is the tiny cam GM installed. Again, to combat emissions. Next is the restrictive exhaust. GM just being lazy. The...

    Loose gear box

Not difficult. A bit time consuming. 3 box to frame bolts, pitman arm bolt, steering shaft and two fluid lines. With the gear box out pitman arm is easy to remove. A bit tight while in the truck. Rag joint can make a big difference. Mine touches the mechanical interference of the rag joint...

    77Conours's 1997 RCLB Build Thread

The KO2 are hands down my favorite tire. Have them on both my GMT800 Suburban and my Cruze. Suburban will be getting its second set soon 75k miles on them. Will put them on the dually when it needs tires. Never been stuck in either the Suburban or Cruze where the dually got stuck with Toyo open...

    Fifth Wheel Hitch Help

I have no personal experience with a goosebox but have heard they are an improvement over the standard convert a ball. I agree though. It is still moving the pivot point the manufacturer intended.

    Fifth Wheel Hitch Help

The added stress of the gooseneck adapter is caused by extending the pivot point of the coupling. It’s like adding a cheater bar to the trailer frame. Many fifth wheel manufacturers were voiding warranty’s if an adapter is used.

    6.0 into 2000 k2500

If I remember correctly, something was changed on the passenger side tube to accommodate the duramax oil pan. It might have been mounting locations or the actuator location. But the gears and carrier for sure will interchange. Since you will have to remove it to change gears. Might as well...

    Rear main seal leak

Depends on your mechanical abilities. The engine and transmission will need to be separated. And the flexplate/flywheel removed. It’s a 1 piece. So it should remove from the rear. Not needing to remove the oil pan and rear main cap.

    Adapters

Specific question with vague details. No personal experience with either of the questions you posed. But since no one who has experience with either hasn’t posted yet I’ll give some generic insight. Wheel adapters are very close in design and function as a wheel spacer, just the different...

My 99 vortec 5.7 STINKS, has a subtle miss but no Codes or CEL

I would hazard a guess that the misfire/excess Fuel in the system is what caused the cat to fail if it has. And I’m not sure it’s a matter of nobody wanting to talk about the inaccuracy; but more a matter of ignorance. So thank you for the insight. From my experience, the arc will not cause...

My 99 vortec 5.7 STINKS, has a subtle miss but no Codes or CEL

Yes. They usually start working around 400 degrees. But I would suspect it’s just a symptom, not a cause.

    Dually conversion

The rear axle WMS-WMS is different, DRW is 72” and SRW is 67. The spring mounting pad location is identical for the two. Cab & Chassis axles are different all together for both SRW & DRW. So I would just grab the entire rear axle from a junk yard. The front axle just uses a large spacer to...

    G80 swap questions.

I understand the reasoning. I considered one years ago for my Nova when I was building it. After extensive research and talking to people, it ends up not being that cheap. I did forget to mention the frame twisting that also occurs. Spools are best left to vehicles towed to the track or trail...

    G80 swap questions.

The G80 (Eaton MLocker) isn’t a horrible design in stock driving. There are a few who have claimed to have blown them up while babying their truck. Wasn’t there, don’t know the history. The flaw of the design is it is triggered by wheel spin, then suddenly locking. Knowing Newton’s laws explains...
