    Q: Rear Wheel Cylinder Changes '93 C1500

So far, so good. They don't leak, or lock up, and the truck stops great. But in retrospect, I probably could've gone with the larger bore wheel cylinders. The truck came standard with the thicker HD rotors in front, and I ended up replacing the front calipers anyway with some new Raybestos units...

First and Last Bluetop Steering Gear

I just saw the vid, and yeah, something ain't right. Looks like a lot of lateral freeplay on the output shaft too. Did you get the box directly from Blue Top?

First and Last Bluetop Steering Gear

I know you said you followed the instructions, but did you flush the PSP before connecting any hoses? Regardless, I wouldn't trust a used PSP from a donor motor without testing it. I installed a blue top earlier this year when I rebuilt the front end on my 2WD OBS. Aside from the steering...

1990 c1500 5.7tbi Rough idle when warmed up Help Wanted!

Did you replace the grommet when you replaced the PCV? Those things get hard after a while, and don't seal. Also check for cracks or hardness around the rubber boots for the vent tube that runs from the PCV to the TBI.

Thanks! I've been watching your build thread, and you're doing a great job. It's amazing how much crud builds up over the years. Just wait until I post pics of the front end rebuild... Appreciate it! I've had several conversations with myself questioning the logic of spending all this time...

Since I was on a "roll", it also seemed like a good idea to inspect the fuel pump, which I should've replaced at this point, but didn't. It was working just fine before the truck sat for 6+ months...why would I need to replace it? Note the black fuel filter...lol

I couldn't wait for the correct hoses because I had to move the truck...so I made a tool to depress the proportioning valve for a proper bleed, and used a power bleeder...

August 2019 I couldn't get the drum off the driver's side because the shoes had wedged themselves against the drum. According to the shop manual, I could use a drift to hit the stopper on the parking brake lever...but that didn't work. What did work, was unbolting the slave cylinder, and...

August 2019 Replaced the starter, and shortly thereafter, my rear brakes started making noise. Pretty much anything that could go wrong, went wrong. I ordered new drums, shoes, and slave cylinders, and went to work. My work space was tight to say the least...

August 2019 By this time, I had checked the ignition, replaced the in-line fuel filter, and drained the fuel from the truck a few times. But the truck still wasn't running right. I thought that there might be water in the fuel, because it sat for so long, so I tried adding a few bottles of...

March 2019 I'm backing up here a bit...didn't intend for this thread to be all over the place...but, that's what I get... So after several more months of rest and PT, I got the transmission all buttoned up, and took the truck for a spin. Less than a mile from my house, it died. If I remember...

Thinking about buying a digital torque wrench

Can't go wrong with CDI. I have two CDI torque wrenches, and a torque screwdriver. All of them are the click type. I'm old timey when it comes to precision hand tools.

who are the go to steering/suspension parts now?

I just bought a bunch of Moog problem solver parts for a front end rebuild on a c1500. 90% of the parts were made in the U.S. At least that's what the labels say. I don't know if the parts are different for k1500s, but the parts I got look solid. I'll update my build thread after I've installed...

    LS SWAP IN CALIFORNIA

This year, I paid $168 to register a 28 year old truck. Back in 2013, I paid $117. Is it breaking the bank? No, not yet. But as you can see, the fees have steadily increased. Yeah, smog is every 2 years. It's about $60 at a place down the street. $10 for the certificate, and $50 for the...

    LS SWAP IN CALIFORNIA

At some point, no matter what we do, gas powered vehicles are going to be made obsolete by new laws and regs. My registration fees increase every year in CA. At some point, it won't be worth registering old cars and trucks, which seems to be the rationale behind these ever increasing fees. So...

    Electrical issue: 1995 k1500

It sounds like you're on the right track. These old wire harnesses don't seem to hold up all that great. Poor grounds and exposed wires, where the housing has cracked or broken off, will cause issues. I'm chasing some electrical gremlins myself right now too.
