1997 GMC 1500 4WD won't engage and just blinks
Just got finished with latest round of investigation.The actuator has power to it and I had truck on jack stands,shifted to 4WH HI and all wheels hooked up immediately.I shifted back and fourth to both ranges and 2wd.A lot of grinding noises came from tcase while in 4 wd,I pushed the clutch in...- buddyp

I have been chasing the same problem with my 97 z.One Transmission shop guy said he thought the tcase needed overhaul.They had it on a lift with and were not able to get the front wheels to turn.I took it home,marked, the frt drv shft with tape and with the 4wd shift in 4wd I drove back/fourth...- buddyp

Took truck to a shop and put it on lift.Much noise from tcase when shifting and no power to front wheels so it looks I may have to gut it.- buddyp

4x4 button flashing... Not fully engaging maybe?
Just an update to my situation.My truck has floor shift for the tcase.Shift tends to pop out of low range when I try to move truck.A Trans specialist took truck it for a test drive,slammed it into 4wh hi at 50mph with a noticeable grinding of gears,Is that the noise he asks? noisey transfer case 97 Silverado
I bought a 97 Silverado 3wks ago and have noticed an occasional clunk that seem to be from the tcase.It only happens in 4wd.Truck has $4000 worth of repairs to the engine and drive line when I bought it.Lately when I have it in 4wd high and low it has this clunk when I just start moving...- buddyp
