    4l80e squeaking noise

No problem, glad to support. Those rebuild videos are great. Another question. What fluid do you use when you rebuild these? I know it's been debated to death, but it's one of those things people have strong opinions on one way or another. I know that Dexron VI is said to be backwards...

This is ODD (305 Vortec issue)

In a situation like this, are you worried about metal shavings in the engine before they get caught by the filter? Is this just a "fingers crossed" moment? I have an older 350 and always heard of the non melonized gear problem, but I've heard conflicting info on whether or not you can even find...

    4l80e squeaking noise

Thank you. I was watching your rebuild video series and when you got to the roller clutch install I was like thats the noise exactly haha. Good to know it's ok. I wonder why it just started making it's noise. Had the van for years and never heard it. I'm going to leave it alone either way. I...

    4l80e squeaking noise

Video link updated. No driveability problems. Only thing that has changed is the new noises I get when driving. The creaking you hear in the video at low speeds, and the groaning that sounds like a bad wheel bearing at higher speeds.

    4l80e squeaking noise

I have a van with a 4l80e. Recently I started hearing a groan at around 45-50mph, along with a squeak/creaking noise at very low speeds. You could hear the higher speed groan slightly worse when turning to the right. Sounded like a classic bad wheel bearing. I checked the front and couldn't...

    Stumble at idle

If it was running really rich it could be fuel. The smoke looks very white as opposed to grayish like oil. I had an injector on another car stick open once. Only ran for about 10 seconds. It took miles to stop leaving a smoke screen behind when I fixed it. Here's a video showing fuel out the...

    Stumble at idle

You might get more help by starting a new thread, but I'll give my thoughts. The o2 sensor is reading rich. Do you have the ability to see if it's in closed loop when looking at the o2 voltage? In open loop the voltage would be around 450mV give or take. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the...

    Stumble at idle

Mine is still around .6V even with all the dremelling I've done to the bolt holes. I don't seem to have a hesitation off the line, just an annoying stumble when I sit for ~10 seconds at a stop. I'm beginning to think I have a slight exhaust valve leak, but I know I've done a leakdown test before...

    Stumble at idle

Thats a good idea. I'll start there and update. I came across an interesting thread where someone had somewhat of the same issue I had. The response he got from a few people was that they also have that issue, but it's because of the ethanol in gasoline today. That the TBIs weren't designed to...

    Stumble at idle

So I have an update: Still haven't been able to put a vacuum gauge on it, but I think I narrowed down my problem. At least one problem. I swapped my original injectors back in the TB. The car ran much better. It still have some soft pops, but now it only happens in closed loop. Thinking back...

    Stumble at idle

Just wanted to stop in and say I'm still active in this thread, I just havent had much time to work on it more than where I left off. I'll update when I do.

    Stumble at idle

I've been meaning to. I own one, but all my tools are in storage and some are still hiding. I will either way because I know it has its value even if I smoke tested the intake. I did check for intake leaks though. Pulled the PCV, plugged the other side of the breather, and felt if the crankcase...

    Stumble at idle

Tried that at one point. Even had a 3 wire o2 to make sure it was giving the best shot at running stoich. A few years back it failed smog for excessive hydrocarbons. Put the 3 wire in and it passed. That might be able to get me by, but I'm really tired of the stumble at idle, and i'm sure it...

    Stumble at idle

I took it as running rich based off the BLM being low and you can smell it. I know a lean running engine can smell too, but it smells like a classic rich running engine. I guess that would be more accurate to say that it is lean command. My interpretation is the computer is trying to subtract...

    Roller cam rocker arm question

Thanks for pointing that out. This is why I'm doing all stock. Not experienced enough with mods to want to mess around too much haha. Just replacing the flat tappet cam because of a bad lifter so I'm ok with all stock roller parts to get a daily running again.

    Stumble at idle

I have a 92 C1500 with a 5.7 TBI. I'm having this issue where it stumbles and makes a popping noise out the tailpipe, like a soft misfire. Not a backfire though. It also never stumbles to the point where it dies, and it's only at idle. Anything passed like 1/8 throttle and it has perfect...

    Roller cam rocker arm question

Thanks for the reply. I'll keep a lookout for the pushrods rubbing. I think I'll pick up the stock L31 rocker arms to give it the best shot it has at working out. Couldn't hurt

    Roller cam rocker arm question

Hello, I am swapping an L31 roller cam into a flat tappet TBI. I have everything to do the swap. Cam, retainer plates/ lifter brackets, lifters, pushrods, and springs with spring retainers from a roller cam block. I have a question about the stock rocker arms though. I am finding conflicting...
