    Bad running after manual swap

I sure hope so! And the coil wire seems to be making fine connection, it was also happening with multiple wires, so that wasn’t the problem. And no problem!

    Bad running after manual swap

Update folks! Got alligator clips and tested the main 12v keyed coil wire to ignition switch under the hood. Power was fine, wiggled it all over and brought it near the dizzy/intake area, power didn't drop. So I went in the cab, peeled back some insulation and tested there and wiggled some...

    Bad running after manual swap

Well I’m really spamming this chat up lol…. But big update here, not a good one. Found a stud to use as a firewall ground, ran the one from the frame and back of cylinder head to it, confirmed it had a good ground with the old volt meter. Started it up, same exact problem. So next I tried...

    Bad running after manual swap

@1998_K1500_Sub is there any other place on the firewall to ground to from the frame and cylinder head? The one below the heater hoses on my truck is totally stripped and rusted

And she’s home! First thing it did when I parked at home was have a tach seizure then stall lol. Waiting for her to cool down before I put these grounds in

    Bad running after manual swap

Ill actually just pull the plug Wednesday like mechanic and I agreed on, trend with this mechanic is he sees all these "problems", tells me about them and then proceeds to twiddle his thumbs and not do much about the issues, or much to diagnose them. I'm sure itll be fine one more day there...

    Bad running after manual swap

Yeah that’s what I think is happening, seems he does great work on mechanical things but the wiring gets the better of him. I think I need to call them when they open tomorrow and tell them to stop and button it up. I’m worried that since he thinks it needs 12 volts and not 5 at the ALDL that...

    Bad running after manual swap

Upon reading, it seems like 5 volts to the ALDL power wires is normal, because it seems to have a resistor built into the system... Also his scan tool requires external power(from cigarette lighter) but mine is not connected.... Never reconnected it after I put a new dash and interior in it. I...

    Bad running after manual swap

So I stopped there again, and he’s having the time of his life lol… I decided I’m giving him till Wednesday and he knows it I told him. He’s working on the ALDL right now, he wants to be able to talk to the computer to see possibly if anything is happening. For some reason he’s only getting...

    Bad running after manual swap

This shop is proving to be very difficult to communicate with. Im just trying to call them to speak to the mechanic and tell them to button it up so I can pick the truck up... First time I call this morning receptionist tells me that the mechanic is out on a tow(understandable to a degree), so...

    Replacing Clutch on 1993 K1500

There’s definitely room to get the tcase out with the trans installed still. When you remove the tcase you just have to swing it in a certain way so it clears the torsion bar crossmember and rear of the transmission. Kind of need to do a “swooping action”, pretty much raise the rear of the...

    Replacing Clutch on 1993 K1500

Just swapped my 94 K1500 from auto to manual with no lift, just on jackstands in my driveway. You need a GOOD transmission jack to drop the trans/tcase all at once, not those stupid adapters that fit on a floor jack, not the janky scissor style harbor freight has. That's the one that I do use...

    Bad running after manual swap

Well I mean inside the cab under the dash it was cobbled with for the remote starter as well. There was about an inch section of exposed wire from where he tapped into it. I tightly reinsulated with electrical tape, made no difference. I also removed the loom and electrical tape from the...

    Bad running after manual swap

Oh yeah I'm well aware of that, that's what caused the interior fire last summer, thankfully new seats, headliner, carpet and sun visors fixed that up. That's why I was less suspect of these 2 wires last night when I crossed them off the diagram, because the harness I got from the junkyard...

    Bad running after manual swap

The wire that was spliced into it must've had something to do with the remote starter that was installed in the truck. I removed it mid process of doing the manual swap.(when I was installing the clutch pedal iirc). I wonder if he was pulling tach signal or something from it? You can see the...

    Bad running after manual swap

So pretty much like 2-3 weeks ago earlier in the thread, when I was diagnosing with the original wires from the coil to ICM, I noticed there was a bare spot in one of those 2 wires(cant remember which of the 2 now, but I want to say it was the white one). The previous owner had spliced in a wire...

    Bad running after manual swap

Thanks for the input on ground straps guys! I ended up ordering the acdelco ones I found earlier, they heavy but not too too heavy, should be good for what I need it for.

    Bad running after manual swap

Thank you! Ill either get that or the one I posted above, it's an ACDelco one. In the reviews this is what it looks like, decently thick. Hopefully the coil to ICM wires im buying will work out, there's 2 bad reviews saying it's junk lol.

    Bad running after manual swap

Sorry for spam, but for safe being I will replace the wires coming from the coil to the ICM with new connectors and wire, as oppose to the junkyard ones I have on it.

Also found this, while less thick it's 20 inches long, which is more than enough.

    Bad running after manual swap

Would something like this do it? I'm just worried it won't be at all long enough. I dont know if it'll be long enough for the frame to firewall OR the firewall to cyl. head.
