Fuel tank leaks diesel from top, even I have under 10gallons of fuel in it.

I suspect the return line as well, but I sure can't explain why it would drain the tank. No matter what, that tank gotta come out. Once it's out, the assessment of the issue can take place. Kinda difficult to diagnose it with the tank in the vehicle.

    Gas Mileage

I once owned a '93 s10 with tbi 4.3 and 5 speed. In stock form it gave me 19mpg with mostly highway driving. I deleted the cat, put a free-flowing 2 1/2" muffler and tailpipe on it, GM performance (low resistance) wires, and delco rapid fire plugs. Installed a msd high-voltage coil too. I also...

I’m a DA…what maintenance have you screwed up?

I have done the trick of forgetting to ensure that the old oil filter gasket was removed before installing a new one. It was late in the evening and I was leaving on a trip the next day, so I changed oil/filter on my '99 dodge/cummins. Oil drained fine, plug back in, filled with oil. Old filter...

Had intake leak and now what

Last week I had a guy bring one of these intakes in that was severely corroded around the water jacket. I ground it out and filled it in. These things are atrocious metal quality and aren't easy to fix, but CAN be fixed. I had no idea the manifold was so spendy! Waiting on pics of the fixed intake!

    LM7 + PerformaBuilt 4L60E

I can respect the fact that you wanna keep it nice. It was alot of work! But I can also agree, it's much more fun to go enjoy what you built!

    NV3500 input bearing replacement

You can do it. Research exactly how to replace the bearing, as in, know what all must come apart on the transmission. Make sure you have all the necessary tools, then get to it. Don't forget, you'll need oil to refill the trans. It would suck to get it all together Sunday afternoon, only to find...

89 k1500 gets warm only on the highway

A complete flush is an absolute MUST! I redneck it. Take off a heater core hose, put the garden hose in the rad cap, start it and rev it up. Run until the thing is chucking clear water. Drain the water and fill with antifreeze. It may not get the low areas of the block, but it sure gets alot of...

89 k1500 gets warm only on the highway

A proper flushing of the cooling system MAY get things unclogged, antifreeze shouldn't be rust colored. Your actual problem may well be the cooling fan clutch. However, if your radiator is internally plugged, your fan clutch can't "sense" the water temp.

Tbi distributor magnet protection from rust question

I'd try aerosol anti-spatter for welding. While not necessarily made for rust prevention, it does do exactly that. Handles heat, won't interfere with electronics.

Best way to add power to my 98 gmc sierra k1500 with 4.3 vortec

I always dreamed of a 4.3 turbo. Yup, not cheap, but different.

Really wish ppl would stop bringing me trucks with hydraulic fluid in trans

I thought I was the only one who got such thoughts AND acted on them! Hydraulic oil dipping sauce will cancel out those calories.

Gmc 6.5 1994 stanadyne Injection Pump

I've never replaced the electronic pump with a new one. Always swap to mechanical pump. It is fairly easy to do, but requires some fabrication skills. While not really the cheapest option, it does rid you of all the electronic pump issues.

    Fuel Quality!

My wife has an '07 saturn vue. 4cyl, 5 speed. Of course it's a turd, and gets treated accordingly. We have gas available with 15% ethanol, cheaper than the "other stuff". Just to see how it'd act, we tried some of this corn fuel in it, and the stupid thing actually runs better. Gained 2mpg fuel...

305 vortec heads and factory intake on old block??

I grew up in my dad's shop, and I sure saw my fair share of gmt400. I did do my fair share of messing around with them too. The only time I saw a knock sensor issue, it was a tuning issue (on a stock truck) that a customer didn't opt to get it reflashed. So I removed knock sensor from the...

305 vortec heads and factory intake on old block??

My brother had a 73 nova that originally had a 307. It wiped a cam at less than 100k miles. Machine shop warned us about the cam issues as we hunted for another engine. So yes, the cams can be an issue. It isn't "all" of them though. Just ones from a certain plant... that I of course can't...

    EFI upgrade?

Keeping the 4.3 is a unique thing, and I wouldn't be afraid to run one. I always wanted to copy the 4.3 turbo design from the cyclone. It aint gonna win no speed wars, but it would motor around comfortably. Give it some boost pressure and enjoy the 4.3!

454 swap? What does it entail?

The engine should bolt to your transmission, and assuming you have an nv3500, a good clutch and easy driving (no burnouts or side-Stepping the clutch) it will last you a little while. I'd advise either carb swap, or standalone fuel injection... unless you have a donor gmt400 that you can steal...

4l80 jumping back and forth 3/4

It reminds me of a ground issue. Did you make sure you've got adequate grounds from engine to frame, body, ecm, etc? Blower install would have messed with them. Definitely a command issue. Or maybe I should say it seems like a communication issue between transmission and controller.

4l80 jumping back and forth 3/4

The 4l80e does not use vacuum to shift, although the tuning may reference vacuum to determine a shift point. It is more plausible that the throttle position sensor needs reset for the increased power/torque curve of the engine. Also, there is possibility that wherever the rpm reading comes from...

    Running a heavier oil

If it's dirt or junk in a lifter, the only thing I have seen work reliably is "rislone". Cured many ford ranger 2.9 v6 motors with that stuff. I have seen a faulty oil filter cause restricted oil flow, resulting in lifter noise. If you need thicker oil to quiet an engine, get prepared to dive...

    Best cold air intake?

A few words about oil'd filters. My dad had a shop for 25yrs, and we sure saw our fair share of sensor failures due to k&n oil in the intake tract. It'll kill MAF, intake temp sensors, and on one vehicle, we saw a collapsed rubber intake tube. I grew up seeing this, so when I bought a dodge...
