    Dual purpose crap hauler

UPDATE on the truck. I ended up sort of trading the truck in on a 2018 2500 Silverado crew cab. I never got around to the body work and thanks to northeast winters, the rockers and the cab corners ended up getting pretty rough over the past 5 years and the truck would not pass inspection in...

Surco Aluminum Roof Top Basket, 50" x 84"

Selling my Surco 50" x 84" Safari Rack part number S5084 that is fitted with Surco roof rack mounting clamps part number 1101 that allow the rack to be attached to pretty much any factory roof rack. As you can tell this is a huge rack measuring 50" wide by 84" long, we used this on our Suburban...

Thanks for posting those. I've kind of been out of the forum game for a while and I guess things have changed... or I am an idiot. (Leaning towards the later) Ill pull the Craigslist ad out.

JL Audio stelth box subwoofer enclosure

JL Audio stealth box subwoofer enclosure. I had this in my 1998 Chevrolet extended cab truck. When I traded it in, I had these grand hopes that it would, in some way, maybe fit into my new truck. But it doesn't. Tan carpet is in great shape, no rips or tears, but could use a little cleaning...

    The Stupid Axle Questions Thread

Full float axles would have an external hub that has inner and outer bearings that sit on a spindle where as the semi float will have an axle and flange with a single bearing that sits in a race inside the axle tube. The easiest way to tell if you have full float is, (assuming you have wheels...

    77-79 dana 44 hp

F250 did not come with radius arms until the early 2000. There were always leaf sprung regardless of solid axle or TTB D50. Based only on the pictures, those look like factory F150 arms that were just modified to probably run a flex or heim joint at the frame end. IIRC, factory 78-79 F150...

    77-79 dana 44 hp

This^^ Using the F150/ bronco 44, the best way get it into a 88-98 GM truck is to use radius arms and coils. the only real fabrication would be upper coil mounts, track bar and a frame end mount for the radius arms. If you can locate a set of Cage radius arms will make life even easier...

    Dual purpose crap hauler

These are the springs, I measured them to be 6" of lift over stock springs but Clayton lists them as 7" lift. I bought them used from an abandoned project that got parted out. http://claytonoffroad.com/product_info.php/cPath/20_60/products_id/196

    Dual purpose crap hauler

The are 6" lift springs for a 93-98 jeep grand cherokee (ZJ) made for Clayton Ooffroad long arm kit. I am not 100% sure who makes the coils for Clayton.

    Dual purpose crap hauler

I realized I never updated this thread.. Been driving the truck the past couple months here and there. I ended up having to swap out the master cylinder for one from a 98 GM K3500 and brakes work awesome. I also need to shim the rear axle a couple degrees to really dial the pinion angle in. I...

    SAS? How many inches?

As mentioned, the only way to get H1's to work wouldbe to re-center them unless you run a drw axle, to get a spacer to work it would have to be 6" spacer. as for lift height, here is my truck, net lift is about 4" over stock, SAS with 35's and I only had to clearence the front bumper, I also...

Factory 16" 88-98 wheels with tires

I have 4- 16" 6 lug aluminum rims with Good Year Wrangler RT/S 265-75r16 mounted on them. All tires hold air. Two tires are minimally useable as a street tire, I would guess maybe another couple thousand miles left in them but they are balding and starting to dry rot since they are about 12...

    14 bolt 3/4 6 lug rear end

Offer them $100 and you'll pull the axle. Price is too high. I've pulled tons of axles and i've never paid more than $150 for a rear axle and those are usually newer full float axles. Get yourself a battery powered grinder (I think mine is a cheapo ryobi from Home depot) and a bunch of...

GMT800 SUV Rear suspension in a GMT400 Truck

LOL.. ya they do, but thats like saying, hey I have a 350 in my truck, must be like NASCAR because they run small blocks too... I was refering to the stock style truck arm. yes you could build your own to NASCAR specs, but might as well go with a 4 link at that point

GMT800 SUV Rear suspension in a GMT400 Truck

There are Truck Arm kits, while they are ment for F-body's and the alike, they exhist and could be made to fit your current truck with some effort. But 68-72 truck technology is just that... 40 year old technology. while they were a good set up, they were not the best. As mentioned, toss a...

    Dual purpose crap hauler

It could if I wanted to... just won't stop under it's own power. I pulled the rear drums to replace the wheel cylinders last week and the drums are junk and pretty much everything inside one drums was junk. one side had a blown hub seal so the bearings were burnt up and all the brake components...

    ff 14 bolt oil capcity

If it is a swapped in axle or if it is lifted and you adjusted the pinion angle by rewelding the perchs or using shims, you will generally get a little less in. In an extreme case on a jeep I did gears in, The owner over compensated for stupid high lift on a short wheel base by having the...

    Narrowing a 95' Rear end

I vote roll the fender lips in if it is truely a slight contact. also how committed to the tires is he, a slightly narrower tire might do the trick too.

Pic request, Bracket removal for SAS.

I cut about 6" from the rear most part of the cross member forward off and then boxed it. should be a pic in my build thread where ever that went. Eventually I will simply cut it off and build something fair smaller, but not a concern right now.

    POR 15

I have used POR 15 several time on several projects and it is good for what it is. My intentions are not to discredit the product or make anyone change their mind, but my observations are that if not prepared properly, pretty much to bare metal, it has less than desirable adhesion, so scuff up...
