Love the look of your truck. I have an 88 c1500 rclb that I'd like to get looking just like yours. Questions, what size tires are those, what's the make and model of the rims, and did you level the front with spacers?
In the last few months I've gotten my rebuilt engine installed and running. It's been an adventure for sure but I'm pretty proud of the progress made. I did the break in for the cam and now I'm waiting on the new plate and registration. The problem I'm facing right now is the truck seems to...
In that first picture I'm guessing that's a connector for an O2 sensor. As the old exhaust is long gone I'm trying to figure out if that sensor will go in the y pipe or after the y pipe? I'm also guessing wherever that sensor goes it will have a long wire as that connector in the picture is...
Okay, two questions. Did I get the lines back in the right places and why does this pump have a third pipe on it? Is that a vent of some sort? It's a little hard to see but the high pressure line is closest to the rad (if it were installed).
The good news is after about 12 years I have an engine back in my truck. The not so good news is I have a few connections that I don't know where they go. The first is a purple wire that's in the same loom as the knock sensor. Any ideas where this connects?
So the Summit heads I ordered keep getting the delivery pushed back. It's very frustrating. My engine builder says they have a set of these heads in stock. Any experience with Liberty heads?

I think I'll be picking up a set of G9014 as I intend to remove the AIR pump. With regard to the lack of a high temp coating, should that be completely removed and then painted with a high temp paint or can it just be scuffed and painted?
Update on the intake. So if you look at the original pictures you'll see a flat ring about 5 threads down in the hole which made no sense to me. The tap just rode on top of it and wouldn't engage. Turns out that was some kind of pipe dope that hardened and created a seat. It also filled most...
Thanks Schurkey. I've been looking for a reason to buy one of those IR thermometers. Between brakes and checking various header temps on the engine rebuild I think I now have a good excuse to pull the trigger.
The truck hasn't run in over 20 years and I don't really remember how the brakes performed then. The lines were pretty well rusted through 10 years ago and I installed the new ones about a year ago.
While waiting for engine parts I decided to bleed the brakes on the truck. All new calipers, pads, rotors up front and rebuilt drums in the rear. Also all the lines are new. Rears bled great with no problems with my son working the pedal and me underneath. Went to do the passenger side front...
Just considering instead of buying a new power steering cooler (old one is completely rusted out) I could just buy the pressure and return lines for a lot cheaper from LMC. Anybody go this route and have good/bad experiences...
While cleaning up my intake manifold today I noticed the threads for the coolant port near the distributor are basically non-existant. Then I remembered that fitting leaking 25 years ago (truck has been sitting for the last 20 years) and paying a shadetree mechanic to fix it with JB weld. I'd...
I had not consider that option. I was figuring on getting a chip burned to start with to get the truck running and driving and then eventually gathering data on a chassis dyno to see what tweaks could/should be made. I'll do some reading. And thanks for all the advice.
Thanks for the recommendations. Those heads look to be on back order, I'll have to see if some place else carries them. As far as a cam supplier, anyone have a good recommendation that won't break the bank?
Friday I dropped my block off to start getting prepped. It is a 350 2 bolt with no provisions for the spider plate. I want to run a roller cam, and upgrade the heads. I think I may keep the stock intake just to keep cost reasonable. I'm looking to get around 300 crank horsepower from the...
I'm collecting parts for my 88 c1500 5.7 rebuild. I'm replacing pretty much everything which means I need a pulley for the new power steering pump. The truck has no a/c which means it uses a 4 rib serpentine belt. I have looked everywhere for a new 4 groove power steering pump pulley and...
