A/C heat control panel or blower motor?

Question, still, is if the control knob is allowing the switch to connect to Hi & the next lower speed simultaneously, will this cause over-hearing/melting inside the switch? Anyone?

A/C heat control panel or blower motor?

Ok, answering my own questions... With the Control Panel connected, except for the blower switch (not inserted into the knob), all 4 blower speeds work flawlessly, but with no visual indication at the switch, obviously. With the blower switch inserted into the control knob on the Control...

A/C heat control panel or blower motor?

Not to hi-jack the thread but his is very close to what I'm experiencing. My blower motor quit working. I broke the switch apart and found signs of burning & melted plastic between the Hi setting and the next lower setting. The is the second time I've found this. First time I just replaced...

    Broken starter bolts

Thanks for the reply. I checked the contact surfaces on the starter gear. Looks like everything was working fine. I reinstalled the starter with new bolts, torqued them to 37 ft-lbs (per Haynes manual), and it fired right up. No sign of any problems.

Direct Drive to Gear Reduction Starter reuse bolts? - 97 C2500 5.7

I'm reading that 4 gauge is proper for battery-to-solenoid. Maybe larger (2 gauge) if your battery is in a remote location (ie trunk). Good luck.

Cool. I'll be at the playoff game Friday night, Live Oak vs Central.

    Broken starter bolts

Yep, it's the small starter, the 6449S. Thanks, I've got the instructions on how to check the alignment. Had no unusual sounds or problems for the past year or so that I've owned the truck.

    Slow coolant overflow

Your gauge should show the high temp at 260. Water boils in atmospheric pressure at 212º F, and your radiator will be at atm plus another 15 psi, so 210 is not a problem. A new water pump can't hurt.

Hmm, I dunno. Mine's still intact so I haven't had to research that.

    Broken starter bolts

Question: Does the starter on a 1998 Chevrolet K1500 (5.7L 350) have a front bracket? The story: this past Monday morning I got a call that my son's truck wouldn't start and sparks were coming from beneath the engine. Hurried home and found the starter hanging from the cable and both starter...

My girlfriends 1990 Silverado is making a bad clunking sound when we turn the wheel

Any luck resolving this yet? Bad sway bar links? I solved a similar noise in my '94 caused by bad sway bar link bushings.

    My 'new' 1998 Chevy K1500

Update: My tranny guy had the truck for 3 weeks. New valve body, new solenoids. Couldn't find anything wrong inside the transmission. He felt the computer was the culprit. I ordered a reman ECM from ACDelco via Amazon and had it flashed at a dealership. Totally cleared up my transmission...

My girlfriends 1990 Silverado is making a bad clunking sound when we turn the wheel

I had a broken pitman arm that took forever to diagnose until I got under the truck and watched everything while someone else worked the steering wheel. The pitman arm balljoint connection to the center link was broken inside the pitman arm and it's next to difficult to spot (at least for me...

My girlfriends 1990 Silverado is making a bad clunking sound when we turn the wheel

'Some'? Never heard of such a thing, link? Anyway, I'd wager that ragged-out GM rag joints outnumber failed Jeep shafts 1000-1.

Installing and correctly setting a vortec distributor

Did you get a virus? And does it take care of the pro version as well as the enhanced PIDs? I have the ELM327 usb and I spent $50 on the OBD Auto Doctor assuming it had the cam offset. Wrong. Blew $50 bucks (of course that wasn't the first time I've blown money on my truck for no reason...)...

My girlfriends 1990 Silverado is making a bad clunking sound when we turn the wheel

Not too bad. And it's an opportunity to get rid of the rag joint. Replace yours with one from a mid-90's Jeep Cherokee. It's a drop-in replacement with just a touch of grinding at the connection to shaft at the firewall. The Jeep shaft uses U-joints and eliminates lots of looseness in the...

This is true. Thanks for the tips. I picked up the distributor clamp wrench at AutoZone and give it another try tomorrow.

Installing and correctly setting a vortec distributor

I suppose that in order to avoid 3rd degree burns the distributor hold-down clamp should be loosened prior to starting/warming the engine and then re-torqued after the engine cools (after this procedure is completed). This isn't specifically addressed in the procedures that I've found so far...

'98 RCSB K1500 going into limp mode

That's what I was afraid of. I had ordered a reman PCM from ACDelco via Amazon. But I had the dealership flash the one I yanked at Pull-A-Part; they said it flashed but would not clear anti-theft. So the reman unit was flashed and installed, my tranny problems cleared up and it seems to be...
