    Problem solved! For now at least.. I got an oil change, put in a bottle of Slick 50 (here comes the hate), reinstalled the intake resonator, and put on a paper filter. I think maybe the engine was getting dusted from the Spectre air filter that's now a year old and has yet to be cleaned...

    I use 5w30, which is recommended. Plus, It seems like the oil would thicken with the cold? but anyways, I thought of that too, maybe the oil just isn't in the pistons at startup.

    That's gnarly man hahah. So do you think this is doing damage to anything other than the engine? I'm going to have it rebuilt or a new engine put in, but should I do it sooner rather than driving it until it dies?

    It disappears after it warms up, yes. and it sounds really close to that in person. :( That's a bummer to hear. IF it is what you say, any suggestions on how to prolong the life? and how long would you say she has?

    Loud clapping noise UPDATE (fixed?) So the truck has been doing this all winter, I've just been too lazy to ask about it. I only drive the truck a couple times a week, and it's usually ~50 outside. It does this for a good 5 minutes. When I rev, it speeds up. I don't notice any other problems...

    Resonator removal, just take the lid off of the air filter. And get a better filter, oil-free high flow are the best I hear. It probably won't be noticeable but idk you can try it lol.

    Tune up is new spark plugs and wires. Clean air filter, oil change, fuel filter, and pcv valve are pretty easy/affordable things that should be done as well.
