    My documented TBI-to-Vortec 350 conversion!

pretty much the entire “build” was trial and error, and I reused a lot of stuff that I now know should have been measured and double checked, but it ended up working out pretty good. Truck got horrible mileage and was a dog at speed but with the cam being unknown to me, I think it’s safe to...

    My documented TBI-to-Vortec 350 conversion!

Shewwww, it’s been years boys. Logged back in for shiggles and was looking through my old threads. Just fyi, I never did get a chip done by EagleMark (may he rest in peace, he was such a gentleman and so patient with my questions and ideas when it came to this truck.) The truck is still running...

    Ignition problems, need some advice.

Hey guys. It's been a loooong time since I've been on the site, but I've run out of ideas and I'm sure someone here will be able to help me. A little back story, my ignition went out like two years ago. Never could figure out why. Turn the key, nothing. No starter click, just dead. The lights...

    My documented TBI-to-Vortec 350 conversion!

Haven't been here in over a year, wow. Small update, still running the same engine setup, now shopping for cams because I found a local guy that can tune it. Oh yeah.

    My documented TBI-to-Vortec 350 conversion!

Been running her on the stock tune since I did the build. It took a few months but the computer adjusted surprisingly well despite being on the stock tune. I can light up the tires at 30 on a smooth road and she launches like a bat outta hell. Next step is a huge cam, full exhaust (already...

"Whoosh" sound when stepping on brakes?

My truck does this. It idles up like a hundred or so rpm and kinda "thumps" out the exhaust, I'm guessing missing. Guess my brake booster needs replaced. Thanks!

Considering dong an LT4 Hot cam

I'm looking into the same swap! Except I think I'll go with Comp Beehive springs for more durability. As far as I know, it's pretty straightforward, just need a tune!

Muffler Recommendations? 5.7L TBI, single, cat removed.

I'm running single 3" pipe to a Flowmaster 10 Series, dual 2-1/4" dumped just after the rear axle. Sounds great but the whole truck shakes from the rumble. Contrary to what someone said on page 1, It's actually NOT street legal. "For off-road use only" is printed on the box. But no one will...

    Which gasket set to buy?

Don't know the part # but I picked up a full Fel-Pro set from O'reillys for a '99 year model when i did my full top end rebuild. The intake gaskets were great!

    FastOrange's: 1996 ECSB Build Thread!

Hey Josh, just dropping in to say the truck is coming along great! Haven't been on the site in quite awhile, she looks sick! Also, you ever put any thought into an SAS? I know it's a big project but it would be pretty sick!

1990 TBI replacing manifolds with long tubes, 02 sensor?

If you have a 4x4 it's gonna be a pain in the ass to route the exhaust for longtubes. If it's a 2wd, not too bad. Just cut the stock Y pipe off and do an H or X pipe, OR a custom Y pipe. Make sure the pipes arent smaller than the collectors, that would screw your top end performance. 3" for the...

Anybody here running LT1 injection on Vortec heads?

I'm extremely curious how you managed to modify the intake to fit the heads. I know the bolt pattern is different for sure, but I was sure the ports don't even match up.

Thinking of going back to a gasser

If you wanna run a TBI propane kit, I have a nitrous fogger plate laying around. Sits under the TBI and also acts as a spacer. Wonder if that would work for you?

    fuel injector spacer

Throttle body spacers on Vortecs are useless. I have the ebay plastic Injector spacer, didn't really notice a difference. But have had no problems with it.

    Opinions on Flowmaster Super 44's?

You replied to a super old thread, bud! Haha. This was two years ago. I have a full custom exhaust now with a Super 10 and no cat. Sounds awesome.

    bursh guard brackets

If you want to get it on cheap and quick, you can use angle iron. I took my Tow hooks off and had a shop weld it right to the frame using the angle iron and to the top of the bumper for extra stability. Then you can weld the tow hooks on either under the guard, or drill holes in the push bars...

TOTM #17 "Inclement Weather" Submission Thread.

This was like 1pm and it was cold and raining all day, just before spring. It's a bit edited, I used a filter in instagram that boosts the contrast.

What'd yall pay for your trucks?

Free. I've put in a few thousand worth of repairs and upgrades, including rebuilding the motor when the head gasket went.

    Annoying exhaust leak

For the flanges, O'Reillys sells donuts that are made of a soft metal that clip into the exhaust manifolds and are tapered to sit inside the Y-pipe, and when you tighten them they kind of mold to get rid of any leakage. That's what I used when my donuts fell apart during the motor rebuild...

Carbureted guys, get in here! (Need some advice).

And what cam would you recommend, Jack? I want lope. That's it. Summit has pretty cheap cams, and it's already roller converted, so all I need is the cam and maybe springs if I need to go with higher lift.
