    Aweful fuel mileage

Well my old 98 1500 with the 5.7, 4L60e and 3.73 gears got the same as your 2500. I normally would get about 11.5 in town and 14-15 on the highway if I drove right. The 4.11 gears hurts the gas mileage, but it's also a 2500 with just a 5.7 so the gears are pretty much needed if you tow or haul...

Well hate to say but I got rid of my GMT400.

I actually went to the dealer for a used truck that was still less than 5 years old but they didn't have any and I didn't want to travel all over since I got the truck because of the engine in the 98 locking up. I traded the 98 with the mechanic shop I usually deal with (when I can't do it...

Well hate to say but I got rid of my GMT400.

Thanks for the compliments, I've been getting compliments at work also. Since those pics I posted the only other thing I've changed are the emblem on the grille and tailgate so color match black aluminum bowties and also a lockable fuel door. I thought about blacking it out but I might leave the...

Well hate to say but I got rid of my GMT400.

I didn't really haggle other than trying to get the monthly payment a little lower. The 4,500 was what they were going to take off the sticker as incentives (I think that's what you call them) and 1,000 was a 1,000 downpayment that I couldn't do so they took that off also.

Well hate to say but I got rid of my GMT400.

Oh and the sticker was just under 42,000 but had about 5,500 taken off the sticker.

Well hate to say but I got rid of my GMT400.

The funny thing is that I wasn't even looking to get a brand new one. I went looking for a used one that was 5 or less years old. They didn't have any except an F150 and I wasn't going to change over lol (not against Ford, I like Ford and Dodge). They said they can't keep used trucks on the lot...

Well hate to say but I got rid of my GMT400.

Little over 36,000. Just under 40,000 with tags, taxes, interest and all. Was only 9 miles on it when I drove off the lot and most of that was my test drive lol.

Well hate to say but I got rid of my GMT400.

Well as the title says I got rid of my 98. The engine seized in it so I guess that was the last straw. I traded it to my mechanic I usually deal with for a UWS toolbox and N-fab side steps. Those came out to be the same amount as what I was going to take for the 98 so we just did an even trade...

Best way to mount shackles to from horns?

Another idea is to just put on a front mounted hitch which just bolt where the factory tow hooks bolt on so no additional drilling. I'm thinking about doing that. Then just add whatever receiver rather it's a shackle, hook, pintle or whatever. Sure you'll only have 1 point, but that 1 point to...

    Air Intakes?

Well the ones you're really talking about are the ones that don't have any kind of head shield filter box where it's wide open in the engine bay. Most kits like the K&N in mine might let some hot air in if it isn't completely sealed to the fender like the Volant, but if you think about it, it's...

Huge increase in gas mileage... What could cause this?

Is the 250 if you let it get down to almost empty? That's how far I can get mine if I do that but I hate doing that. I can go 200 miles all city when it reaches 1/4 full with a 26 gallon tank. My engine only has 125,000 miles on it, not the original engine though while the truck has 145,000...

Huge increase in gas mileage... What could cause this?

Did you check the tire pressures and put them all the same? Did the outside temp suddenly warm up? I check my pressures about every time I fill up. Also when it gets colder the mpg will get worse since cold air is more dense so it will require more fuel. That's why it feels like it has a little...

    Air Intakes?

That's what mine look like. Like I said, I don't mind the top being open since it's sealed against the hood. It's also great in case I'm able to get a functional cowl induction hood so it will already be open to the hood where with a stock box you'd have to cut a hole in the lid or take the lid...

    Air Intakes?

My K&N has a heat shield box and is covered all around except the top and towards the fender. It's sealed against the hood though. It may not be sealed against the fender, but even if it was it's not a huge deal since the head in the engine bay will heat the air as it goes to the throttle body...

    Question about CB antennas

Thanks. I used to have a 102" and it worked great. The reason I usually run 2 fiberglass antennas is because I figure if it works for semis then it should be ok. I know that the antennas aren't as high of course. Also the reason I don't have a 102" anymore is because I had one of the cheap $20...

    Question about CB antennas

I've had a CB in my truck for years and always had either 1 antenna or 2 of the same length. Right now I have (2) 4' antennas I got from a truck stop. I was just wondering if it would work if I keep one that's 4' and replace the other one with a 102". I'm thinking that it will be hard to tune...

    10W30 year round?

Well I did use 10w30 for awhile but then switched to 5w30. The manual for mine says as long as the temp doesn't get below 0° then it's fine to use 10w.

    Oil pressure switch?

Have a 98 1500 with the 5.7 350. Sometimes when I'm driving the "check gauges" light on the dash lights up and at the same time the oil pressure gauge will go to 0. But, all I have to do is bump the gas and the light will go off and the gauge will read normal again. I'm just wondering if it...

    N-Fab nerf bars.

Don't flatter yourself, it will never actually be done lol. Down the road you'll find something or figure out something to add or change.

    N-Fab nerf bars.

I think they look good, but with stuff like this I think about the function. If I'm going to get wheel-to-wheel bars (have them on my truck) then it needs the step in the very back to help reach in the bed or in a toolbox. It has helped me a lot to make it so I didn't have to jump in the bed...

    Demand for a 1.25" Lift

Personally I don't like a body lift by itself. I'd only do a small body lift if I also have a suspension lift. But, I know it depends on who would. But, I guess I'm a little OCD so there should be options of 1", 2" and 3" instead of fractions, unless you also add 1 1/2" so you do half of 3" if...

    Limp mode HELP guys!!

I've heard people say a shift kit and Vette servos are doing the same thing, but again could be wrong on that, just what I've seen some people say. If it was mine I'd just do a shift kit. A 4L60e can hold up to more than it seems. Mine was acting up as I described earlier for years before it...

    Limp mode HELP guys!!

It had to be completely rebuilt. The shop I took it to just got a fully rebuilt trans from another shop that does transmissions. So the one in it now isn't the one that went out. I knew it needed to be rebuilt before it went out because it was slipping real bad where it would shift hard...

    Limp mode HELP guys!!

I could be wrong but I understood that limp mode in most if not all GMs is where it stays in 2nd gear or doesn't shift past 2nd. My trans (4L60e) went out a few months ago and it wouldn't shift past 2nd.

    Volant air intake

My mistake, maybe I clicked on the wrong thing or something. I haven't had a problem with the filter being an oiled filter. As I said as long as it's not over oiled then it's fine. I'm **** about some things, I don't like to half ass things so that stuff would get on my nerves. But, what you...
