    Finally fixed my off-idle stumble!

I've been chasing an off-idle hesitation and poor light throttle performance for a few years now. When I first started trying to sort it out, I did all the regular tune up stuff, including a new EGR valve. After reading a couple of posts on here, I pulled the EGR and had a good look at it. The...

BIZARRE end to the hunting/stumbling idle issue on my ‘95.

I have the same slight off-idle stumble. I did change the EGR a couple of years back, and I just got the new one from the parts store, but when I think back, one had the restriction in the vacuum connection and one didn't. What would be correct for my 1990 C1500 305?

New Y-pipe and cat for the old girl

That hole in the Y-pipe just took a plug. It probably fits many applications. My truck does have the O2 in the drivers manifold. That's where the Y-pipe blew out and I think it was throwing the sensor off.

New Y-pipe and cat for the old girl

My 1990 C1500 got really loud, fairly quickly, and it was running like crap. Stalling and stumbling. The Y-pipe was blown out right by the O2 sensor and the Cat, the 33 year old one, was pooched. Living in Ontario, Canada, I wasn't looking forward to the job, but I bought a stud puller, and to...

Drivers power window quit on my '90 standard cab. Where to start?

That poor truck sits in the laneway and only gets used a handful of times a year. It just turned 190,000K, about 120,000 miles and it's still in great shape for being 33 years old. I just picked up a load of drywall for my new garage and it paid for itself once more. Good old Chevy long-box...

Drivers power window quit on my '90 standard cab. Where to start?

Well, that was more work than I bargained for. it turned out to be the window motor itself. I got it changed out with a new one, $49.99, and it works great. The old one was corroded inside and it looks like moisture had gotten in. The factory motor only had three screws and I don't think it was...

TBI small block intake gasket replacement (PIC HEAVY)

I'm just getting ready to tackle the intake gaskets on my 90 Silverado with the same problem. I logged in to get some tips on doing it, but didn't expect such a detailed tutorial. Thanks!

Drivers power window quit on my '90 standard cab. Where to start?

My power window decided to quit working. Is there a way to test the motor by running 12 volts to it and see if that's the problem? I would imagine that if it's the wire, it will be broke right at the door, where it gets bent the most. That looks like quite the job to get at. Any tips would be...

    Plastic bed liner debate

I've had a factory bed liner in mine for 32 years now, and I've only had it out a few times. Early on, I would take it out in the fall when I took it to Krown for rustproofing, but that hasn't been done in over 10 years. The bed under it still looks mint.

1990 standard cab head liner. Big job?

The headliner in my 90 standard cab is in good shape, but is is separated and falling down. I'm thinking about taking it out and re gluing it. Is this a fairly simple job, or one of those jobs where you have to disassemble half the truck? Anyone ever try to re glue one while it's still in the truck?

    91 c1500 ABS problem

Like Eric said, it is most likely the driveshaft. Mine did the same thing until I undid it from the rear end, slid it right out of the transmission and put a very light coat of grease both inside on the splines and outside on the yoke. Problem gone.

    1990 C1500 ABS (RWAL) removal.

I got my adaptor at a local parts store for about 8 bucks. I have the same truck, 90 2wd and my brakes have never felt this good since I've owned it. (Going on 20 years) I don't think I'll cut the wires. Probably just leave them there

Does ECM need to "learn" after replacing faulty EGR valve?

I just replaced a faulty EGR valve on my 1990 C1500 5.0 that was causing my check engine light to come on. I was told that I had to disconnect my battery for several minutes, which I did, to reset my ECM. Does it just instantly recalibrate itself, or is there a procedure for allowing it to learn?

    1990 C1500 ABS (RWAL) removal.

I removed the dump valve from my 90 yesterday and it made a huge difference for me. Maybe my dump valve was defective, but I've had this truck for over 15 years and at least 2 brake jobs and the brakes have never felt this good.

    1990 C1500 ABS (RWAL) removal.

I just did this to my 90 C1500 and the difference in braking on my truck is remarkable. It finally feels like I have brakes on all four wheels. I did need an adapter which NAPA had in stock for under 10 bucks.

    CR43TS plugs good enough?

Time to treat the old girl to a tune-up. I've always just used stock AC CR43TS plugs but I was wondering if there would be any advantage in switching to one of the other brands, (like E-3), who claim to be superior. What do you think? The truck is bone-stock with a 5.0.

What am I getting into with sloppy tilt wheel?

You are right. I was following the video, but when I got to that point I saw that I could get a 1/4 drive socket with a swivel in there just by moving the knuckle over. I took them out one at a time using a magnet, (they were all loose), and I just hit them with lock tight and tightened them up...

What am I getting into with sloppy tilt wheel?

My 90' C1500 has developed some slop in the tilt mechanism and after looking at a couple of videos on YouTube, I decided to order a pivot pin remover and tackle it myself. Apparently, it is common for some bolts to come loose, or not be tightened properly in the first place, causing the slop...

    Cluster twitches bad

I do computer repairs, but lately I have done repairs on G.M. dash clusters. More specifically, replacing the stepper motors in them. All customers report the same thing, that the gauges "Go nuts and the needles swing wildly back and forth". Not a huge job once the cluster is out. Very common...

    Favorite OBD2 Scan Tool? Recommendations?

Years ago I got a unit from China for $15 (free shipping) that goes from the OBD2 plug to USB. It came with free software and I just use an old laptop with it. I actually works really well. You can monitor everything, read and clear codes, etc. I think the software is called ProScan.

Adding sub and amp to stock radio

I agree with 98chevy. Aftermarket head units are cheap and the install kits make everything real easy to put in without cutting or modifying anything.

Adding sub and amp to stock radio

I used a 10" Kicker Base Station, tap into the rear speaker wires and Bob's your uncle. Never had it turned up more than half way.

Where the reg cab sub guys at?

I didn't want to cut or modify anything, so I bought a Kicker Base Station. It looks like it was made for my truck and it sounds fantastic. (I replaced the factory speakers with Infinity reference speakers, same size, no mods)

Here's one for the experimenters and GM philosophers

I recently replaced my exhaust manifolds, and when we went to take the O2 sensor out, the wire came right out of it. I had to put a new one in and my truck has not run this good in years, (1990 C1500). I had no lights or stored codes, but I was having all kinds of issues with starting and...

    Engine Hesitation/poor idle

The heater performance code is referring to a O2 sensor problem and that can cause a lot of different issues.
