    1997 5.7L Suburban radiator capacities

Not bad at all, considering. Happened a long time ago, honestly! Just took a while for the crack to expand enough to make a noticeable leak, I guess. My grille guard took most of the hit, it and the bumper kind of lean back from it, but just cosmetic. Cracked the grille and it's mounting tabs in...

    1997 5.7L Suburban radiator capacities

Nice, thanks! Yeah, I have one set of hose pliers, planning on clamping off the lower hose to lose as little as possible. The radiator is cracked from an impact with a deer, not clogged up or anything, so not too worried about flushing. Just looking to replace as cheaply as possible

    1997 5.7L Suburban radiator capacities

I'm replacing my radiator this weekend and curious about how much coolant, oil, and transmission fluid I can expect to have to replace. I know I should do a flush and replace all the fluids, but I'm not going to, just wanna replace what gets lost. Thanks!

1997 5.7L Direct Drive or Gear Reduction starter

Pretty much just trying to find out which style starter it SHOULD have before I order the thing. Know the kid I bought it from had replaced it 3 times in the last 5 years, latest one burnt up after 1700 mile trip, guess the heat was too much. Dont know which style it currently has either, will...

Hard start when warm 97 5.7L

Thanks everybody! I replaced the crank sensor and the temp sensor (one on thermostat housing) and now it starts when hot, but still runs kinda crappy once it does. Next step is the evap vacuum solenoid, just got here today and will get it on soon

    Audible engine noise through A/C

Doesn't matter, if the A/C is on, it's doing it. Doesn't matter how long it's been running either, or if it's on fresh air or recirculating

    Audible engine noise through A/C

Basically. It's like when someone puts an amp in their car and you can hear the engine revving through the speakers, but you hear it revving as a "rumble" under the dash that follows engine rpm. Only there with A/C running

    Audible engine noise through A/C

1997 Suburban, 5.7L. I replaced the compressor about a month ago due to loud noises when I turned it on the first time, my first summer with this truck, no idea how long that was a thing. After replacement had a shop vacuum and recharge system, all good there. Now the new compressor is quiet as...

Hard start when warm 97 5.7L

This is all great advice, thanks! I have been worried about crank sensor. I did buy the truck in March, think it was probably this way for PO too. Am worried about crank sensor, havent replaced but when I got the truck had a very bad, long term coolant leak from water pump, replaced that too...

Hard start when warm 97 5.7L

I'm at my wits end here. 1997 Suburban K1500 5.7L. Newish fuel pump, new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ICM, TPS, IAC, EGR, spider injector, exhaust completely all new. When the truck has been sitting between 15 mins and 45 mins hot will not start for anything, and once it does start it idles super...

One exhaust gasket per manifold or two?

Replacing exhaust manifolds, 97 5.7L Vortec. The manifolds came with two gasket sets per manifold. Am I supposed to combine them together or use just one? They are the compressed fiber type, metallic on one side only. Thanks

97 5.7L Vortec: use exhaust flange springs or not

Replacing the exhaust manifolds on a 97 K1500 Burb, 5.7L Vortec. The driver side came with those springs that go between the nut and flange, but the passenger side didnt. Neither flange had the springs on the old ones. Should I put them on the driver side or just leave them off both?

Strange beads in 5.7L Vortec intake box

When squeezed between two fingers they crumble apart, almost like the core of an acorn (had a Caballero that squirrels packed the intake full of acorns before ) but these are just different. Maybe a different kind of nut. The truck is from Minnesota, and currently in Colorado, and I'm from...

Strange beads in 5.7L Vortec intake box

They were in a square box that has a small opening, attached to the pipe coming in from the fender, before the filter. I'm home for lunch but will take pics when I get back to the shop

Strange beads in 5.7L Vortec intake box

Hi all, probably stupid question, but removed my air intake box to get to exhaust manifold and a ton of these small, tan beads spilled out of the small square box attached to the intake. Any idea what they're for? Should I put them back in? I found as many as I can, but not sure if they're even...

'97 K1500 Suburban stalling after long drive

Hi, first time OBS owner, longtime fan. 1997 K1500 Suburban 5.7L, 250000 miles. Had an issue yesterday that I could use a hand with. I've owned the truck for about 2 months now and had a couple issues with hard starts, like if I ran a bunch of errands then let it sit for 30 mins or so would be...
