    Lifter tick issue

Yeah Kenny, that's right. But it's not a simple torque spec, more complicated than that. The specific lifter you want to adjust has to be on the base circle of its cam lobe, at zero lash. Then you tighten around 1/2 to 3/4 turn to set preload.

Door Handle and Door Pin Replacement

Yeah, believe it or not, it's better to pull decent looking OEM parts from the JY than it is to buy new Dormans or some other Chinese repops.

Adding Children's Car Seat Anchors. Any Advice?

GMT800's have LATCH. I'd say from a liability standpoint, it is a BAD idea to try to retrofit LATCH into any vehicle. You have to follow the seat manufacturer's instructions for installation. I had no problems with numerous safety seats in my "older than LATCH" rides when my kids were...

    cam swap

So you have all of these go fast drivetrain parts and want to stab in a cam that will turn your truck into an absolute turd. OK. The stock TBI will probably go nicely with all of that. Because racetruck, right?

    4 Hi Headlight Mod

I have the 6 hi mod on my daily driver lifted 4x4 GMT800 suburban now. It was way easier to install, just a jumper board that dropped in under the relays in the fuse block under the hood, and $20 bucks to boot. Not bad. Four HIR's and the amber cube flood/fog lights in the OEM foglight...

    4 Hi Headlight Mod

I disabled the DRL's in my assembled in mexico '96 K1500 GMC suburban. Couldn't ever get the DRL indicator on the cluster to shut up so I just pulled the bulb. I had a painless wiring relay harness in there to replace the dinky & crusty OEM headlight wiring (but used as trigger for relays)...

    The Stupid Engine Questions Thread

Vortec heads in general are prone to failure if mistreated. They're not like the indestructible old school SBC heads. Just stay away from any variation of ATK. Absolute junk.

    Tail light circuit boards ?????.

I replaced my circuit boards or board, maybe it was just one side like 3 times. Still didnt work. Oh I was pissed. Then I found this rats nest of wiring and connectors for the trailer plug and wiggled & tightened the connector. Fixed my messed up circuit board immediately. Frigging amazing.

    Burnout?

An old fella on a muscle car board im on had a tag line in his signature that said something like if you cant blow the tires off at 50 mph your engine needs work. That's a fuckin burnout.

    Lifted Suburban Spare Tires

I had a 33 in mine, removed plastic lip on floor of cargo area and uses some pool noodle pieces to pad it from hitting glass. I think a little more tire would've fit there.

Have to sell my wrecked Suburban

Seems like a reasonable starting point for negotiation is $5000 (whole truck - $3K rear/$2K transmission/$3K engine & accessories) It's pretty beat up. Frame is probably out of square. Major damage to passenger side rear - big dent/broken glass/twisted & pulled body Engine/trans have less than...

    Gear Ratio decision

4.56 and 35's is a little hotter than 4.10's and factory tire size. It was perfect for my big green lifted 4x4 5500# suburban, that was daily driver duty, hunting duty, boat pulling duty, etc. ETA...welcome to the site by the way. Nice rig.
