Installation was easy. Just need some new oil for the differential and some good sealant/rtv for the cover. Took a couple of hours on a Saturday morning.
I installed a powertrax in my stock 10 bolt (see attached picture). It has held up now for over 6 months. As stated above I’ve seen mixed reviews, I chose it simply because if I’m going to drop $1000+ dollars in the rear differential I want to get rid of the 10 bolt all together. I’ve got a...
I don’t remember exactly but I was slightly concerned with how much mine was engaged into the transmission. I have a 4/6 drop as well, don’t know how much that may have changed it either. I can measure mine this weekend. I’ve been beating on mine fairly hard with no issues for close to a year.
These are the u-joints I used as well as the yoke part number. I believe I ordered that yoke from Jegs. My truck is a 93 shortbed, early 90’s 4L80 dirty dingo adjustable mounts. Sounds like the same setup.
You are going to have to modify the stock 6.0 harness(or buy a stand-alone harness), lt1swap.com is your friend. There is a ton of information for the ecm pin out and wiring schematics. I don’t know exactly which wires go where.
What year 6.0? The voltage gauge should continue to work as you will retain supplying power at the firewall with the wire that also used to connect to the alternator. The oil pressure gauge and coolant temp will reuse the existing sensors/wiring you will just need adapters for the 6.0...
I finally got around to getting my factory speedometer working. For anyone else who may need to know there is a light blue wire at the DRAC module behind the glove box that you can tie the signal from the LS ECM directly to to provide signal to the factory speedometer. I did have to change the...
Well I went from the 4L60 to the 4L80 so I think the 3:73’s will help compensate for the gearing difference. I’m not dead set on 3:73’s but 3:42’s aren’t cutting it, plus I need a posi unit.
I need to look into the sanden compressor/conversion. I completed a lq4 swap in a 1990 Z71 I had and used the Dirty Dingo bracket for the R4 compressor. The bracket was very nice but it resonated when the compressor was on and made a growling noise. Thanks for the tips on the air filter. The...
The engine came out of a 2013 2500 Silverado. A six speed would be sweet. I’ve got my truck going and am happy with the setup. I just need to change the gears from 3:42.
Engine and transmission are in the truck:peace:. Installed the headers as well. Had to move the transmission crossmember and figured out that I will need a different driveshaft yoke.
Ended up going with a Yank SS3600.
Removed the old engine and transmission. Ordered a psi conversion harness, recieved the 4l80 back from the transmission shop, engine mounts on the way. Hopefully I will get it set in the truck soon.
