Cant see putting more then that into the tbi motor. So Guess ill stick with a stock set of reman heads and some gaskets to keep it on the road and finish working the original plan to save for the 5.3 / 6.0 swap later on down the road
Any idea where to get oem heads?
Not ultimate but more power is good since I have to rip everything apart anyway, between 2-3k i think is reasonable, Future plans for this engine hope it holds together.
Not looking for 400 hp more like 280-300 to the crank I would be more then happy, anything more then that is a bonus. However i dont want to be at a light lobbing like i have a dead cylinder. was thing somthing in the 450-460 lift range
Decided to use the 1k on the ditch lights to see how that holds up. You can get it at like Autozone and its half the price of the 2k aerosol. Texture is a little different and the coverage is ok at best, but at least you can keep using it later. The 2k hardens in the can after about an hour...
tow mirrors cam in and sprayed them with 2k raptor liner aerosol. Heads up this stuff goes quick so if you think you need 1 can get 2. but coverage and textur is good. Keep the can a good distance mist it on the first coat!
As @Schurkey suggested, you can get these heads from Summit Racing (made by Trick Flow). They flow better than Vortec heads AND will bolt up to your intake manifold and accessories. They come with guide plates so you'll need either hardened push rods or, you can remove the plates and use...
I will run compression and leak down test... i have had a gmt400 with 380k miles on a 5.0l lost oil pressure and well that was the end of that...so the heads seem to be a more viable option the more i look at it. Can i put these on with stock cam and everything or should i improve cam rockers etc
Wow Cant believe I for got that part 1993 Chevy k2500...How would I contact Dave? The 6.0l swap just isn't something I want to do again. I did it in a RCSB and boosted it some years ago with a buddy. I have tossed the idea around with just replacing heads and maybe a little machine work and call...
Noticed the other day that I have a cracked Cylinder head. Nothing major yet but figured is a sign since I have rebuilt almost everything else this is the last thing that hasn't been touched. I am figuring its a good excuse to do a freshen up but which way to go. This is a daily driver slight...
Would think a frame swap would be most realistic and quickest everything is already in place would need to adapt your 2wd trans to accept a transfer case but I would go that rather then SAS. Guess it all depends on what your keeping and can let go. If your just sentimental about the body of the...
4l80E would be the way to go. (I have in my current k2500) We did a built 4l60e in truck some years ago and with about 280 HP small block nothing crazy but smoked the trans in the mud doing things like mud drags and flying through pits. Also need to mention it was my daily driver. You live you...
Not sure if I am keeping the electric fans gonna be doing some towing and rumors are that mechanical clutch maybe better. Though they work great as of now. Also got coated brake drums and calipers from r1 concepts.
Went a little on the simple side for the engine it still runs so just make it work. New pulleys and 140 amp alternator. New exhaust manifolds, y pipe from summit racing, and a tune up. New ac compressor, lines, dryer, and condenser.
