Intake Manifold - TV Cable bracket

I think I screwed up my intake gasket install. Is the TV cable bracket mounted directly to the intake using the intake bolts at the rear? I had them as studs when I took them out, forgot to take a pic but I couldn’t find nuts for these two studs and realized the bracket doesn’t really fit on...

    Intake bolts for TBI

Anyone know if the OEM type bolts and studs are available for the TBI intake? Snapped a stud at the front driver side and it’s one that the alternator is braced off.

    Coolant in oil

TBI L05 with 115k on it. Sent an oil sample into Blackstone and there is coolant in the oil. It’s not enough to be visible to the naked eye and I’m not noticeably losing coolant. Is there a chance this is just intake gaskets or should I be planning head gaskets?

    TBI MPG and other observations.

This thread is not what you think. I’ve put 4000 miles on my k2500 light duty in the last year, pretty solid 11 to 12 MPG but living where we do with mountains and canyons all around MPG sucks even in the best of cars. Best MPG has been 13. It’s all 55 or 65 MPH driving. I’m a little OCD about...

    Ball joints

I just put in new TRE’s, pitman arm, idler arm, and a Red Head Steering Gear. Now I need do do balljoints. Ordered a full set of Moogs. Fortunately the riveted in uppers have already been replaced once so they have bolts and the lowers are the bolt on type so imagine it will be pretty drama...

    4x4 Pitman Arm Replacement

Next thing on my to do list for my K2500 is to install new tie rod ends, adjustment sleeves, idler arm, and pitman arm. I ordered all Moog parts. Anyone have any tips on pulling the pitman arm without air tools? I will be removing the steering box as it’s a simple job and I need new power...

    4x4 Posi-Lok Part No. 600

Bought this off Summit Racing and attempted to install it, couldn't break the axle tube mount bolt free to mount the bracket, and said screw it and removed it. Kit is used only because I installed everything but the parts on the axle side. Everythign is there except for the grommet that goes in...

    700R4 dust cover

The guy I bought my truck from last year replaced the starter... should’ve checked the bolts. Appears I lost one and the next time I started it I damaged the dust cover. Truck is 4x4 with the supports. Are all the 4x4 700r4 dust covers the same? Anyone have a part number? Truck is an 88. I...

    Steering shaft slop

Before anyone suggests an XJ shaft, I don’t have a yard real close to me and the shaft I bought from deadjeeps on eBay was so rusty I couldn’t break it apart. My steering shaft needs a new rag joint, no big deal I have the part on the way. What I’m wondering is how much play should there be in...

Looking for wheel and tire advice

My light duty K2500 is currently sporting some 15x8 steelies with an offset that pokes out just a little bit with the 31x10.5 tires I have on it now. I will need tires soon as these are old. Wheels are in good shape. I’m trying to decide between keeping the steelies and putting a 33x12.5 or...

    Wiper switch bad?

Lots or Googling points me to the pulse board, which on my 88 K1500 was definitely bad. I had the old style wiper motor and ended up replacing it because the boards are not available. Prior to replacement the wash function was the only one that worked and the wipers would stop up or not stop at...

    Posi Lok install help

Went to install a PosiLok actuator in my 88 K2500 and am stuck. The issue I’m having is taking the two nuts off that hold the passenger side axle tube to the frame. They just spin. I can get to the rear most bolt but the front on is under the motor mount. Anyone have any suggestions? My TLA...

    Front end noise

88 K2500 6 lug When hitting minor bumps or imperfections at low speed I hear a popping noise from the driver side wheel area. I don’t feel it in the steering or suspension. Almost sounds like rocks in a coffee can. Ball joints and TRE don’t have any play. The only play I can find is in sleeve...

    Repairing 88-94 dash bezel cracks

Those of us fortunate enough to own an 88-94 truck know how fragile these dash bezels are, especially around the headlight switch. The switch bracket sits on 4 plastic posts and is held on by screws. Those posts break and then you have a floppy switch. Or if you’re like me the previous owner of...

    TBI EGR Valves

What is the best EGR Valve to use on an ‘88 7200gvw K2500 with a 5.7 in it? Part number on the original valve is 17087196. New valve from AC Delco is 214-5074, with a GM # of 19210655, and is made in China. This new valve is supposed to be a direct replacement per multiple sources. I just want...

    TBI Code 43

Ive been doing a lot of searching on this code and it seems there are a few different things that trigger it with my circumstance maybe being the most common. Truck runs fine, no engine light at start up, good power. However, once warmed up I will get a knock under load and then a short time...

    Another new member

Hey all, joining this page to not only tap into the knowledge but share a little of my own. I recently bought a 1988 K2500 ex cab 4x4 for the paltry sum of $2000. Living on the west coast we have the fortune of having mostly rust free vehicles, and this truck is very clean other than typical...
