    Loud high pitched Squealing: 454

Power steering pulley good. Not a vacuum leak. It's one of the accessories. Doesn't sound like water pump. Changed a/c for a dummy pulley and noise still there. Going to change smog pump for a dummy pulley and see if that's the culprit. The mechanic in town said he has never heard a noise like...

    Loud high pitched Squealing: 454

I have a loud high pitched squeal from my big block. I'm thinking it's the water pump going out but I just wanted to get some opinions first. First thing I did was put in a new serp belt. That did not change the squealing sound. It almost sounded like a vacuum leak at first. Checked...

454 serpentine belt not aligned to water pump pulley

I was thinking of tweaking the powers Steering pulley to try and line up the belt better but that doesn't seem to be the cause here. I think it's water pump positioning. Here's a pic top down where you can see the water pump -below the belt that travels between a/c compressor and belt tensioner...

454 serpentine belt not aligned to water pump pulley

There's an 89 3500 454 here in the yard...it runs and the belt isn't popping off, however I can see it is getting a little chewed up. There's a pic of the water pump to crankshaft pulley section of the belt. There's a small white speck in the pics. ThAts an ash that dropped off my cigarette. To...

    Power steering pump(s)

So, the small block Yukon blew it's original 1997 p/s pressure line in June. Replaced it with a Napa pressure line. That was my first mistake. The Napa line was made from cheap rubber and sprung a huge pinhole-style leak ( like a fountain of p/s fluid all over the engine bay. The old lady was...

    Please help

I found/used this a long time ago. It helped me https://www.justanswer.com/gm/2s5dx-1997-gmc-yukon-slt-4wd-it-flashed-not-engage.html I checked and its still a good link. Works fine. Good luck

    93 4L60e to 4L80e

I have to agree with TylerZ281500, it's asking for trouble if you don't know what you're doing. I've had a few customers come in the door looking for driveshaft work. That's coming in the door of a structural steel fab shop. Ive turned most away. Only do the ones that customers agree to the...

Should i try ethonal free gas?

Around here (Alberta) I'm Almost certain the only was to get ethanol free as is to buy premium gas. Thats around $1.25/litre and regular is .93/litre. Any cost savings on fuel consumption or repairs is more than offset with a ~30 cent difference per litre. For my American friends that's...

Vortec 454 Revs up high then dies HELP!!

You can get MAF, IAC, TPS, etc. Readings from a $30 Walmart odb2 reader. it only gives freeze frame if there's a code, but you can monitor it through "live" data (not really instant data, but better than guessing) and always take a pic or vid with your phone if need be. I know it's not as...

    Suggestions for trailer brake wiring

What I've always used is just a home made pigtail adapter that will plug into one trailer connector and have an output of the other type of connector. So if there's a round style male connector attached to the truck then I would make an adaptor that has a round female style plug on one end, 6"...

Guide me in front suspension service, 99 Sub 4wd

Stabilizer bar end links commonly break off at the studs and make a sound like you are describing as well. Front ends are weak on obs 4x4's. If it's new to you, probably best to check over everything. Before you take the front wheels off, check for movement in both directions will help...

    Look at my oil leak.

I second that. I've pulled a few oil filter adapters off older 5.7's that don't have the cooler lines and they fit right up to the oil cooler line version. Nice simple factory equipment way to delete the oil cooler lines as they will continue to go bad unless you replace with the nice stainless...

    96 Tahoe vibrating at speed

Are you 100% sure you didn't lose a balancing weight from one of the wheels? Or could you have a bad tire? Even brand new tires are sometimes bad from the factory. Easy to rule that cheap stuff out first before you start throwing parts at it.

    Stainless trim

Hey all...I'm looking to buy some stainless trim for my gmt400 pickup. Would like to find the lower and upper pieces plus fender trim. This is my 97 Yukon. It's exactly the same as what I'm looking for. It was already on the truck when I got it a few years ago. If anyone knows where I can order...

    93 4L60e to 4L80e

Yeah I've heard of guys reflashing the same computer to do the 60/80 swap. They were the newer obs odb2 computers. I've never seen it done on the older ones but thy doesn't mean it can't be done. I'm almost sure it can. I've only had experience doing the swap with a kit. Did you get the...

1996 Suburban 454 Never Ending Issues

Yeah it's all in how the truck lived it's life. There's 1988 obs trucks that are high mileage and run great and 1999 obs identical trucks which are low mileage and junk. I have found over the years that it's so important how it was taken care of, how it was used, and the maintenance that's been...

    Value of our trucks

Rust. All depends where you live in Canada. Here in Alberta pretty much has to be bare steel to rust. We don't have rusty cars on the road like you see in Atlantic provinces. I have a 30 year old truck where all the bolts still come off nice and easy. Nothing rusted or seized. And the truck has...

1998 K2500 sputters on acceleration no loss of power.

If it sputters how do you not lose any power? I'm confused by that part. I would suggest checking fuel pressure first. Find out if you have good pressure. That's usually the first thing I check for a sputtering issue. Only takes a few minutes.

    Value of our trucks

I agree with much of what's been said in this topic. I picked up my 97 Yukon for $2400 about 3 years ago. It had one owner and hadn't been worked on by any clueless teenagers or abused at all. I could easily get more out of it now than what I paid. It's a k1500 with almost half a million...

    1998 k1500 5.7 350 mysterious button

Do u have or did you have an aftermarket remote starter? They often have an on/off switch. Why don't you just follow the wire back to see where it goes. Or did you ever figure out what it was for?
