No pain like loosing your vanity plate.

Back when I rode reining horses. I had a plate the said WHOA U SB. I got tired of paying to replace them. I would loose a set every year at the Quarter Horse Congress. Anti theft hardware didn't seem to slow them down - lol.

How rare is this?! Came right out!

If I were you - I'd go buy a lottery ticket! Everyone of those I've monkeyed with has been a pain. Not all of them snapped off - but until it's out, you are just waiting for it too!!!

1995 GMC C1500 engine cuts out then takes a few minutes to start. Pulling my hair out!

Check the ground straps from the frame (pass side) to the engine and to the firewall under the evaporator. May not be the cure, but those need to be in good shape or all kinds of issues can arise.

    Valve train problems

Welcome to the site Kurt. This is a great place with tons of knowledge and helpful people. You got a little of what I call baptism by fire. These dudes will light you up if you don't feed them the pertinent info. LOL!

    HVAC question/help

There is a way to test the resistor. https://troubleshootmyvehicle.com/gm/4.3L-5.0L-5.7L/testing-the-blower-resistor-1

    HVAC question/help

What kind of numbers should I be looking for when Ohm'ing the resistor? Or... is no burnt or broken wires and no "OL" (open circuit) good enough? A Also - is it somewhat safe to assume that hearing each relay click as different speeds are selected?

You are right 10mm - if not prepared, you'll probably drop the motor - lots of torque.

    HVAC question/help

Thankfully, I've not had a cowl leak on this truck. Although, I've had a few in the past that did. I may put a new motor in just to have history on that part. I believe the all the parts in the blower system are original. At least there was nothing in the service records from the original owner.

    HVAC question/help

1992 SCLB with a 3 speed blower. I understand "high speed only blower isn't a rare problem. I did a search and read posts until my eyes bled. I pulled the glove box - operated the blower switch, and heard each relay click. Not saying that means they are good (I don't know what it means)...

    Loopy idle

I purchased and install an AC Delco coil and ICM. Runs like a top. No more cheap parts for this Hillbilly : )

I also like the exhaust dump in front of the rear wheels. I am guessing those where custom bent?

    Loopy idle

I had a little roughness at idle until it hit operating temp. Not nearly as bad as before the new coil. Every once in a while it would stumble, in gear at a stop light. Anything above idle speed was fine. Does it sound like the ICM is suspect? Either junk to begin with, or damaged by the bad...

    Loopy idle

Update: It is with all due caution that I say.... The cold start after installing an Delco coil was positive. No bouncing tach. Idle stay rock solid when put in gear. I headed out to run some errands and see what happens. Will report.

I will get a get a quality coil as you suggested. The ICM just installed is a Duralast DR140 from AutoZone. I put the quarter size dollop heat sink grease that was in the box with the ICM. I don't have a scanner, so I will install a coil and see how it runs. I think I've seen the light...

Thank you for your insight. So - I should get a good quality coil and see if it runs OK? I don't know of any parts houses that test ICMs. That is to say - the big chains don't. I asked the guy AZ if they test ICMs, and he looked at me like I had two heads....

    Loopy idle

I hear what your saying. I wish a rebuild or new motor were in the cards for me. It is worst on a cold start, after it gets to operating temp it only does it half the time (at idle). I don't notice it at all above an idle. Not to say it isn't doing it? But the tach does not bounce like it is...

1992, 5.7, SCLB, 1500, 2WD I finally worked through my no start issue. I also replaced the MAP sensor because the 33 code showed up after it left me stranded. I don't think the MAP sensor had a role in the no start. But replaced it because it thru a code. The truck runs as it should.... Except...

UPDATE: Code 33 - no fuel - no start

Update: Well, I clearly got ahead of myself. The 1st thing I did when the truck was towed home was check for fuel pressure, When I didn't get any pressure. I stopped looking thinking I'd found the issue. To confirm the dead pump theory. I jumped pin G on the OBD1 port and still no pressure. So I...

UPDATE: Code 33 - no fuel - no start

Thanks for the info Richard, I have a new Bosch pump sitting in the garage. Good to know I can easily test the pump through the OBD1 connector. I've heard of other ways to test with jumper wires. But, honestly I am not real comfortable dicking around with electricals (as in jumper wires and...

UPDATE: Code 33 - no fuel - no start

Happy Saturday All - My 1992 SCLB 1500 5.7 700R4 2WD shut off - sputter and spitting to a stop. My friends a AAA brought me and "Ole Donnie" home. First thing I did was check fuel pressure - nothing (0 psi). Pulled codes and got 33 MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor circuit high (low...

    Rear Axle Bearing Question

Thanks again for the feedback - All back together. Haven't test driven yet. It's 95 degrees and I am cooling off first. Nothing I read prepared me for the possibility that those little gears held in place by that steel pin could fall out when installing the axles!! I bumped one of them when...
