    Oil pressure..

I didnt even think of moving the wires 4 positions over to reverse it, glad you mentioned that because I really didnt want to take the valve cover off again and the screw holes that hold the cap down to the distributor are stripped so i had to get a screw with a bit different thread for now and...

    Oil pressure..

I don't see how this could prevent starting but the only change (that I'm aware of) that happened in between it starting and not starting is that I circulated the oil.. is there anything (literally anything) to do with oil that would prevent it from starting

    Oil pressure..

I'm basically absolutly positive I put the distributor in the right way on the compression stroke like I triple checked (if not more), i replaced all the plugs, the rotar, made sure every electrical connection is plugged in all the way, none of the wires are damaged... idk what's going on! When...

    Oil pressure..

Yea probably, although when I was trying yesterday I probably adjusted the distributor atleast 10 times a couple degrees at a time. What I found weird is how the day before if the timing was too retarded it would have troubles just cranking but now for some reason the timing almost doesn't...

    Oil pressure..

So I figured out it was just out of time, so I turned the distributor a bit which was a bit too much) but it flashed right up just had a really high idle so I shut it off quick because I still wasnt 100% I'd have oil at the top end (yes I know probably stupid to even try starting without knowing...

    Oil pressure..

Thanks man, appreciate it! I was expecting to hear theres no way to do that kinda stuff by hand, your going to have problems real quick, ect.. hahah but theres a reason it took me so long to do everything, I made sure absolutely everything was done to the best of my ability or better. That being...

    Oil pressure..

Just tried turning it over with the fuel pump and all the spark plug wires hooked back up and its having trouble even turning over now? So I unplugged the spark plug wire going to the condenser and it turns over no problem.. only things I can think of is either the distributor is out 180° or...

Top When I say top end rebuild i did everything in my garage at home, I'm deffinatly no mechanic just mechanically inclined but I planed the heads on a perfectly flat surface that I glued sheets of sand paper onto, ground the valves with lapping compound and just cleaned the hell outta them...

    Oil pressure..

Yea I'm really hesitant to do so but at the same time almost everything's got atleast a bit of lube whether it be assembly lube, motor oil, or fogging oil it's not totally dried out.. think I'm going to start it for about a minute or 2 and hope I see oil and don't hear any bad noises..

    Oil pressure..

Just in case not everyones reading the replies.. how long can I run the motor with out oil before doing major damage? I was hoping to try this out today if possible. Last time I started the truck was probably around 2 years ago (if that makes any difference), been a long time coming... and I've...

    Oil pressure..

That's true didnt really think about that, idk if that would be a reason for no oil flow but that could deffinatly slow it down, thanks

    Oil pressure..

Yes, I used assembly lube on all of those components. How long should I run it without the possibility of oil spraying up before damage can occur?

    Oil pressure..

Ok, makes sense thanks! How would I go about priming the pump? Is that what chopping up an old distributor to get it on a drill does? If so is that not the same as just cranking it or is the point of that to spin in faster with the drill then cranking it would?

    Oil pressure..

Just finished rebuilding the top end on my 1990 gmc k2500 with a 5.7 tbi, after reassembling almost everything I wanted to make sure I was getting oil everywhere so I removed a valve cover and tried cranking it with the fuel pump relay unplugged and the main spark plug wire to the distributor...

Torsion tubes going to lower control arms

If yours is as stuck as mine thats about the only way possible.. i tried atleast 4 or 5 different sprays(wd40, deepcreep, pb blaster, some "rust freeze" one, ect). Beat on the torsion bar through a hole in the cross member (from back of truck, forwad) with a long solid rod and a sludge hammer...

88 TBI 350 stumbling and missing under load.

I had similar issues with my 5.7 tbi only difference is mine would occasionally backfire befor dieing down.. first i checked my fuel pump, replaced the fuel filter, checked timing, replaced dist cap, rotor, spark plugs, and wires. I believe it was the dist. Cap and rotor replacement that solved...
