Solid rear window to sliding window

There is no gasket on my '96. Just High Viscosity Windshield Adhesive. The glass is already in a sealed frame. You just cut the old adhesive from inside the cab and pull the rear unit out, clean up, prime, add adhesive on the new unit frame, put it in and tape it in place to cure.

I have a '96 5.7l. on my Iphone, when i open dash command I can select account, purchase, GM (chevrolet, buick, etc.), and i can see there is extended parameters for '96 - 2009. I have a green check mark next to the '96 since it has been purchased.

96' L31 timing and crank relearn

In Dash Command you have to purchase the GM extended parameters. The parameter ID for Cam Retard (CKP / CMP Correlation) is GM.ENGINE.CR (°) found in the general PID's.

How to stop LED Fast Flash info

I used 6 ohm/50 W resistors because that was about the equivalent resistance of the 1157 bulb or whatever bulb was used given its wattage ect. Not sure what actually could be used, I just stuck with that. Just make sure to put them across the turn signals so they are only powered during the...

That's how I did mine and everything works fine.

How to stop LED Fast Flash info

Probably is a resistance issue. The marker lamps finds grounds through the resistance paths of the unlit park lamps in normal operation ect. of turn signal and hazards. Since the park/turn lamps are now LEDs they don't have the same resistance like the bulbs did since they are diodes. So the...

    molding removal and adhesive cleanup

I used a heat gun and piece of fuel hose to scrape and ball up the adhesive. Like your fingernail but saved my hands from all the pushing. The hose was soft enough and didn’t take paint with it.

    Brake bleed question

What i have been doing is using a cheap ebay adjustable DC-DC buck converter in a home built interface between the cig lighter and the tech2 to hold the voltage to 12V (above 9v) on the input pin of the DC-DC converter (Mornsun) inside the unit. I put the digital voltage display on it. (Edit...

    Brake bleed question

Yeah my tech 2 is a clone and it came with all the connections. As far as I can tell, the clone is just an unbranded version of the original. It hasn’t limited me on anything described in its use in the GM service manuals. I did make an interface using a voltage regulator from the cig lighter...

    Brake bleed question

There is an OBD1 12 pin adapter came with the tech2 for DLC cable but the tech 2 has to be externally powered. Will it not communicate through the connector? Here is a vetronix manual (pdf) https://www.obd2be.com/download/gm-tech-2-user-manual.pdf

    Brake bleed question

Never worked with the 95. But I cycled through my tech2 for a 95, and it still shows a function test for each option 4 WAL 3 Sensor or RWAL. I assume it is the same test? but again I have never done it. Only my '96.

    Brake bleed question

I have used my tech2 to cycle the ABS pump and valves on my '96 C1500. This is just a function test though, that's why you run it several times. Chassis>4WAL 3 Sensor>Special Functions>Function Test On a '98 it looks like there are more option than just running function test, Automated Bleed...

    Seeking small air compressor recommendations

I bought small compressor at HF with 8 gallon tank with the wheels on it to roll it back out of the way in the garage. I also bought an 11 gallon receiver tank that I can hook up in parallel when needed for the volume. I got family spread out in town and this makes it easy for me to transport...

    Seat foam

Anyone think the Auto-champ-texas drivers cushion linked above will fit in the place of the passenger side of the 60/40 split bench in a '96? I don't see a passenger side in searching.

Does anyone know where I can locate the Right Door molding?

Did you look on LMC truck? They have some precut molding that looks pretty good. I used it on my truck.

    Shift from park issue

Sounds like an ignition switch problem.

    Shift from park issue

Check the park/neutral switch on the transmission and make sure it isn't loose. The PRNDL switch, neutral safety switch, whatever. In park, the switch is in the circuit path with switch in the brake switch to disengage the Brake/Transmission shift interlock solenoid BTSI. I think you can loosen...

Post pics and review of your bedliner

Here's an old thread. Several of us got LINE-X. I had the same drop in liner for 20 years and no issue. And, the bed looked great when i pulled it out and cleaned it up before taking in for the LINE-X. https://www.gmt400.com/threads/linex-bedliner.45162/

Is a Redhead worth the price?

I just read this article about the redhead and it sounds pretty good. If they are actually measuring the ball race fully round the worm and sizing ball bearings that require it, that is good. Additionally, it sounds like they are adding material to shafting and cutting it back to size needed for...

Is a Redhead worth the price?

They probably do but, our truck's boxes have needle bearings so they probably just put new ones. They may convert boxes that had bushings too. like on old time boxes.

Is a Redhead worth the price?

I don't see how they can. The boxes already have needle bearings.

    Oil Choice

I have only ever run Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic for the whole 163,000 mi life of my '96. I have fixed a few leaks over those years though, rear seal, oil pan, etc. I need to re-RTV the lower intake again since it has a small leak running down the back onto the start bolts. You are probably right...
