    Shitty v-band clamp install

As for the welded clamp, careful work with a cutoff can save it, or beat it off and buy a new clamp.

    Shitty v-band clamp install

Its normal to hang one pipe slightly out of the v-band clamp. As long as the other half has its pipe recessed. It helps align the clamps and improves sealing. They make interlocking v-bands that have a lip and corresponding groove, but that is a cheap effective way of doing it.

Trouble installing harmonic balancer - it gets to the same spot and then binds

You may have accidently gotten an undersized balancer intended for crank snouts that have been turned down. Measure the id of the snout and see if it is in spec. otherwise take the timing cover off and polish up the snout with some emery cloth. surface finish shouldn't be to important here, so...

Hard hot start - temp sending unit, how to diagnose?

Read by checking resistance across the two prongs on the sensor. Try a hot start with your foot to the floor (the flood clearing mode described earlier) could have an injector leaking down when the manifold gets heat soaked after shut down. My geuss is it's fuel related.

    Cylinder heads

So you would have to use an lt1 or 4 manifold (no distributor) or a gmpp 24502592. The coolant flow is reversed, not a big deal, but there is no tstat in the intake, and the coolant passages in the deck are different (steam vents i believe). So, mount the heads, make a coolant manifold to house...

    Camshaft 350 v8 5.7 - 1988 k1500 Scottdale

Why not check the tappet lift before tearing apart the top end? Unbolt a rocker arm, and measure the travel of the pushrod as you turn the motor over by hand (or power if you like). Across a standard 1.5 rocker the tappet lift should be a quarter inch or so. Dial indicators are preferred, but a...

    How does it work?

just a generic vacuum referenced fpr, Should help you get an idea for it. Theres quite a few different versions, in most cases vacuum pulls back a spring opening a bypass to return fuel to the tank or pump inlet. Reduced vacuum (more throttle opening or load) closes off the bypass port...

Will this 502 fit my truck

Will this 502 fit my truck

The RPM turned is irrelevant, to do a specific amount of work requires a specific amount of air fuel mix to be burned. Whether its through a high revving small block or slow lazy big block doesn't matter. The same amount of air must be ingested (not accounting for differences in efficiency). And...

    Full Synthetic --- Vortec 350

  23. C

    Full Synthetic --- Vortec 350

Run synthetic. Aside from the expense there is no downside. And the expense can be offset with longer drain intervals. the "synthetic made my engine leak " is usually from the synthetic oils and their additives cleaning the gunk out of your engine and exposing leak paths. Use this if you are not...

1984 350 block with vortec heads

And with an rv cam you will likely be ok with the heads as is no screw in studs or machining required. To keep it cheap i would check the heads over as described above, and replace the springs with ls6 style springs for more available retainer to seal clearance.

1984 350 block with vortec heads

Guide plates rub on the pushrod, so hardened pushrods are required. Self aligning rockers are aligned by the valve tip, if you run guide plates with self aligning rockers you could run into a binding issue.
