I'm using a 98 Vortec long block which I rebuilt in my sons 94 Z71. I used a Performer intake for the Vortec heads and a trans adaptor for the TBI off a 7.4L engine which I think its flows 600cfm I hope to have it running by next month.
I am rebuilding a Vortec 5.7L out of a 98 3500 for my sons 1994 Z71 truck (3.73 gears), using a Performer intake and a throttle body out of a 454 truck (I think they flow around 600cfm) Summit Racing (GM performance cam) shorty headers etc.
I am not sure on that cam choice, a little big for my taste. I wouldn't go bigger than 218/225 @.050 on duration and 490 to 510 lift max but that's just me. CL about 110 to 112
I have heard from a very good friend who installs cams all the time in several different applications, that the BTR truck cams work great in the stage two or stage three without the use of a high stall convertor. Just sharing info.

Yes I agree, no lift is needed just adjust the torsion bars. I had 33's on my 91 Z71 for 100,000 miles just had to trim the front bumper just a little.
So I picked up a AWD case and 4l80E the other day, now just wondering what I would need to do in order to install in the 94 Z71 truck? What would be the difference between the front diffs and driveline if any?
