    ‘99 K2500 died and won’t restart

Thank you for the responses, guys. Haven’t tested fuel pressure. My first guess was distributor but I have confirmed it is turning. I haven’t tested for spark other than to hear that it is not firing. The uneven cranking it what most concerns me and that’s why I’m leaning towards timing chain...

    ‘99 K2500 died and won’t restart

This actually happened way back in September but I had a family emergency and haven’t had time to work on the truck til now. So, I was driving my ‘99 K2500, literally the first time after the new exhaust, ign coil, cap, and rotor installed, and it was running fine. About 2 miles from home, the...

4wd push button wonky? Or t-case?

Potentially figured it out. I read an old post about unplugging and reinstalling the TCCM, and that appears to have worked. Will update this thread if it fails again.

4wd push button wonky? Or t-case?

Ok, so quick update. I replaced both the pushbutton and encoder motor. While I had it off, I was able to get a adjustable wrench up in there and manually shift the T-case into 4hi and 4lo without issue. So I think the T-case is ok. Now, back together, I’m still having issues. When I’m in 2wd...

4wd push button wonky? Or t-case?

I should add, in Park, nothing on the 4wd switch works. Won’t light, won’t attempt to go into 4hi…any t case activity that is happening is only in Neutral.

4wd push button wonky? Or t-case?

New problem in my ‘96 K1500. Went to shift it into 4lo, no lights on the push-button actuator were lit. No biggie, right? Well, I put it in neutral and pressed 4lo, and I hear the case shift, then immediately shift back. Both 4hi and 4lo lights are now blinking, then after 3 seconds they stay...

‘99 on the road finally, now rattles in first

Unfortunately I’m back to this…looks like the flex plate is cracked. So I guess I’ll be dropping the trans at some point.

‘99 on the road finally, now rattles in first

I’ve finally had time to get my 2500 back together and on the road, and I’m hearing a weird rattle noise I need help diagnosing. I don’t think the truck rattled when I brought it home a few months ago, but it ran so poorly on the drive home I may not have noticed. It only happens in reverse...

Well, that took long enough lol. I got a new tumbler for a ‘98 and the truck runs again. Thanks for the help!

Replaced key tumbler on my ‘97, now won’t run

Ok, thanks for the info guys. It is a late ‘97, so it does appear to be PASSLOCKED. After messing it with it for a half hour, I do see that the security light flashes for a few seconds, then shuts off. The security light does not stay on for any portion of the 10 minute relearn. I have so far...

Replaced key tumbler on my ‘97, now won’t run

In addition to the miss I’m trying to diagnose on my ‘97 K2509, I’ve now run into another issue, The old ignition tumbler would no longer turn. No biggie, followed the steps to replace the ignition tumbler, and the new one turned like it’s supposed to. Problem is, it won’t start the truck...

New-to-me ‘97 misses but throw no codes

Been a while since I’ve posted on this forum! My ‘96 K1500 is still running great as my daily, and I just picked up a ‘97 K2500 from a buddy to be my new tow pig. The ‘97 is a 350 4l80e with 123k miles, and sat for about 2 years before I got it. I got it running in his driveway (poorly) but it...

ANOTHER "my '96 GMC idles high" thread

Man, I'm getting fed up with this truck. After chasing high idles issues for two years now...the high idle is back (it does periodically go away)!!! Or I guess I should say, never really left! @&$#! Here's the symptoms: After warm-up, the truck will idle at 900 in P, 750 in D. Not terrible...

'96 randomly runs like crap, then fine

So it's been running fine til this morning, then back to crap. This time I shut it off shortly after it started. Upon restart it ran fine, though I immediately drove it to the shop. Only code this time is p1345, cam/crank correlation. Could this be caused by a bad crank pos. Sensor? I'm...

'96 randomly runs like crap, then fine

after a month on my new timing chain, cap, rotor, plugs and wires, my truck runs great! Right up until it doesn't. Symptoms: -miss at idle -way down on power -missing, backfiring, and overall crap running at part throttle When this happens, I get 5 codes pop up according to the shop: -faulty...

    Unusual GMT400 builds?

back when I had my old '69 C10, I remember finding a lot of pictures of purpose-built 67-72s that were very unique in their construction. I guess most were sold a cab/chassis trucks, and then after delivery they were built to be cable layers, welding generators, convertible cattle haulers, etc...

What are ya'll getting for mpg?

My average mostly city is around 11. Best trip was 14.6, all highway. I just did my timing chain and ignition system so I'm hoping it goes up. 350, auto, 3.73s.

    O2 sensor spacer?

i asked over at 67-72 , but wanted to ask here too. Can I run a catless exhaust and put a spacer on the rearmost o2 sensors to avoid CEL? My '96 is emissions exempt because I have farm tags so I was toying around with this option.

    Random Miss at 65-70

My GMC is running great, and has been for a while. Over last winter I put in new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, TPS sensor, water pump, and did some odds and ends on the interior. Been using it this way all year, having driven about 10000 trouble free miles. Then, two days ago, I am noticing it's...
