    Rust in thermostat housing

The intakes were used on some GM boat engines, that’s all I know about that. The previous owner used Bosch 0280155700 injectors that were included.I’ve seen a few people run these intakes without a tune, but I just bought an 0411 today to prepare for my build this summer. The listing for this...

Oh, whoops! I paid $400 for the intake + everything needed to put it on a stock engine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rust in thermostat housing

1 gallon of evapo-rust isn’t enough, but it’s enough to cover the thermostat housing, gonna get some more tomorrow to cover some threads higher up on the intake Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The runners look fine except for the water outlets on both sides, so those might be a problem also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rust in thermostat housing

Disassembled the intake last night to give to my dad who has a hot bath at work. Got it back about an hour ago, plan on picking up Evapo-Rust Friday after work and having sit over the weekend where I can check on it every few hours Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rust in thermostat housing

Wow! That makes me want to try and save this even more, this one is a 3 bolt throttle body intake. IIRC the seller told me the Mercruiser intakes were 4 bolt and the Volvo Pentas were 3 bolt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rust in thermostat housing

Thank you for the info! I want to at least try to save it, it’s too rare of a part to just throw away without at least trying to save it. I’ll try hitting it with a wire brush/wheel when I get home from work and go from there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rust in thermostat housing

Here is a comparison vs the stock L31 intake, I do have a sandblast cabinet so I might try to sandblast the inside but I’m afraid of knocking off more of the thermostat lip Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rust in thermostat housing

It is cast iron, I’ll probably go into work tomorrow and pick up a gallon of acid bath to soak it in over the weekend Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rust in thermostat housing

I just recently picked up a marine intake and just got around to messing with it when I started to notice the thermostat housing is badly rusted, I’m hoping it’s salvageable but it looks like it’s too far gone to to anything, opinions? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    4L60E No OD

SOLVED: One of the power wires from the abs brain to its fuse had a loose connection, causing the occasional operation of 4th/cruise control

I’m using a Launch Millennium 90 Pro, I’ve never used it before to read abs codes on my truck but it reads abs codes on my dads 99 Tahoe, and this scan tool does read transmission data, the pcm commands 4th gear and the pcm believes im in 4th gear after the command

Another update: put in a new brake switch, problem still persists, leading me to think one of the communication wires from the abs module to the pcm has gone bad, suggestions?

Another update: got a another ABS module out of a 97 Pickup, problem still persists, only other thing it could be is bad wires? Other than that I’m totally lost Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I did have a SES light on months ago for “Brake Switch Circuit B Low” but I haven’t had a problem with that switch. Is the brake switch somehow tied in with the ABS system? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm not really sure how to know if the Tcc is refusing to lock or not, when the ABS light is on it feels like i put the selector in 3rd and acts like there is no 4th.

    4L60E No OD

My 4l60E wont shift into OD/cruise disabled when my ABS light is on, but the problem is I have no codes for the abs system. When the ABS light is off OD and cruise control works, usually when the truck is cold, if its warm the ABS light turns on, leading me to think a bad abs module or wire...

    Another Parasitic Loss Thread

I'm having a problem with my truck dying quickly, around 2 days if i dont drive it. the battery is a year old NAPA brand 4 post, and its not bad, the alternator is working fine also. The terminals on the battery aren't corroded and are fine. The only thing i can think it is is a random wire or...

    answer to any 4l60e trouble

Alright, I’ve had this problem for about a month. M30/4L60E doesn’t have 4th gear when the abs light is on, when the light is off, I have 4th gear. But the kicker is I have no abs codes showing up, has anyone else had this problem? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
