    96 7.4l Gremlin. I really need help.

You didn't mention plug wires or a compression test. Were all the plugs equal? Someone competent with an engine scope should be able to do a power balance test and tell you if all the plugs are firing equally. Don't overlook the EGR system it can overwhelm a cylinder and cause it to drop out...

Diagnosing failing ignition coil vs starter solenoid - click when turning key, cranks after multiple attempts

At 140,000 that starter is all used up. The new gear reduction units are the way to go. Schurkey nice write up. Another quick troubleshooting trick is to watch the dome light when you turn the key. If the light goes out you have lost voltage (dead battery or a bad battery connection). If the...

Wipers with a mind of their own!

Easiest fix ever Reflowed the connector and a few other suspicious things. Added a drop of grease to the worm drive and wiped off the contactor ring while I was there. Wipers work washers work intermittent works. 20 min and I even checked the oil! Tech Tip: Add some fresh solder to the puddle...

If I put a stroker kit in my 454 will it run without a tune?

It will likely run, It's just that the base calculation that everything is based off of is now incorrect. It's expecting 454cu" of air per cycle and it is actually pulling 500cu". 10% is not a huge change. A windage tray and roller rockers could improve your efficiency enough to put you back in...

    The Center Console Thread

I did a little accessorizing to my center console. I built the bracket and put the Ram mount on it. The tablet is my engine monitor, GPS, and music server for the stereo via bluetooth.

2000 C3500 truck dies when put in park

Does it start back up and run in park after it dies or does it fail to restart? Can you make it run with a little throttle? Does it run in neutral or act just like park? It looks like it is idling at just under 500 RPM. Is that the norm? my BB idles at 700-750 warm. 500 seems low. The ECU...

TBI Surging/Hunting for Idle When Warm in Park

As installed One Happy Engine Do you have both apps? ALDLDroid has a closed loop button that you can add to the display and shows real time updates on screen that may help. Your O2 is not happy. A vacuum leak is certainly worth fixing. If it was a Honda I would tell you to top off the...

TBI Surging/Hunting for Idle When Warm in Park

With the "desired" idle speed bouncing it appears that the engine is just doing what its told. The faulty TPS suggestion was good. With the motor off but key on slowly cycle the pedal looking for jumps in the numbers on the screen. Just a guess here but it looks like it takes forever to get...

    Random Misfire, new wires arcing

Good wires should never arc. Plug gap and electrode diameter determine the voltage necessary to jump the gap. Platinum plugs have a nice small electrode dia. They also last considerably longer before they wear out. You can run a larger gap with platinum plugs and not stress your system. Larger...

TBI Surging/Hunting for Idle When Warm in Park

The Seafoam is a cheap diagnostic. It only takes one tank of bad gas to push things out of tolerance. I bought a tablet for the truck it lets me keep an eye on everything. I use it as a heads up display at night, Google maps and it is a GPS I also put a mileage log on it. If I ever find a...

1992-1999 Chevy K1500 Truck Front Performance Cross Drilled & Slotted Zinc Coated Brake Pad & Rotor

Cross drilling lets the gas pressure out. Slotting shaves off the pad to remove any glazing. What is the zinc for? Rust protection best guess.

    Add-on Bluetooth for 88-94 radios?

This turned out to be a very simple and effective upgrade. Even the equalizer and cassette still function. Parts: Exile BT reciever it has a 2.2V output signal (no preamp necessary) Female RCA cables 1 red, 1 white I pulled out the cassette head popped the top and wired the RCA cables in...

    Add-on Bluetooth for 88-94 radios?

The design is getting simpler. After seeing how much audio signal was available from the BT module and how low the preamp volume was set to I decided to delete the preamp and it turns out to be unnecessary. I have lots of volume and range without it. Another $25 in the parts bucket. This...

    Add-on Bluetooth for 88-94 radios?

Powered up the Bluetooth adapter today. It paired up without a problem and sounds really good. Had one of my audiophile friends link into it and give it a quick workout. He was on Amazon shortly thereafter trying to buy one for his BMW. We ran it out to about 75' through a closed steel door and...

    Add-on Bluetooth for 88-94 radios?

The preamp arrived, it looks better than expected. No RCA input jacks. One more thing to find. What kind of range do you guys get from the Millennia? Since I was planning to be around the Suburban as much as in it range was important. The Bluetooth signal is digital, the music is digital. The...

    Add-on Bluetooth for 88-94 radios?

I mostly chose the more expensive Bluetooth option because it supported the APTX music std and it was highly reliable about reconnecting to your device. The preamp should be here this weekend so I can possibly get it working. My purchases this far are: Bluetooth reciever...

Noise abatement It's a big block with headers and a 3" exhaust. Unless it sounds like a siren and has flashing blue lights it shouldn't be a problem. I'll take the air flow.
