Edge Insight CTS3 into a 98 OBS Gas

Interestingly enough, no. I remain unclear if the CT3 will work. My intuition is it would but given my remote location, I am not prepared to risk purchase and return process to try it

Alpine UTE 73BT - user can't figure out new interface/control

Thank you for this - I should have reported back that I think I figured it out and its goofy. You are correct - hit the rotary knob but what is goofy is it isn't clear where it drops you in at (I think it is at the Album level) then you have to 'back' up to the artist level if you want to change...

Edge Insight CTS3 into a 98 OBS Gas

I have been busy, like most people :-). I am curious about value of units like the edge vs what an old phone and a bt obd reader can provide… just seems odd to ‘permanently’ mount a phone in a vehicle…. Hope others weigh in! Cheers!

Edge Insight CTS3 into a 98 OBS Gas

Hello stranger! :-) I hope this finds you well. I currently run several BT OBD2 to phone/tablet but was looking for something that might be purpose built and would mount cleanly to the pillar....

Edge Insight CTS3 into a 98 OBS Gas

I am looking to monitor stuff a little more closely. I had a look around and couldn't see this type of device being discussed in a gas application. The company states it won't work with my 98 but I can't understand that given the basic OBD2 connectivity. Has anyone installed one of these in a...

Help me Wheels Spacer fitment on my c2500 suburban 1996

I just want to add a consideration though I appreciate the OP states he has a c2500 - GM for several years put 2wd rear ends in 4wd vehicles resulting in a track difference of nearly 4 inches - maybe there is a similar track issue with the C series, I don't know. I put steel spacers in my truck...

    Show me your front ;p

Glad to hear you are well. Bummer - I think I have a vacuum leak I have to chase - won't hold idle when you move to reverse from park.... The joys of old vehicles and new ones

    Show me your front ;p

Thanks - I hope this finds you well. I will be changing the front end to go back to a black grill insert and incandescent turnsignals. The LED turnsignals don't defrost in the winter - no heat :-)

    Interior lights wont turn off

Agreed - but of what ? The door switch plungers such that they give a false open and energize the lights? Or the relay itself - both are possible and difficult to reproduce/test :)

    Interior lights wont turn off

You may have given me something to try - my interior lights come on when it gets below -10C. Been a 3 year mystery. Maybe one of the 'relays' is afraid of the cold ...

High-End Vehicle CD Receivers Going Away?

Thanks for this info. I took the 149 out and replaced it with the 73 - maybe I should reverse that decision :) Need to go away and research the the feature set again. No laughing, but I put the 73 in to get a more modern and hopefully better BT phone operability. yet with equivalent audio...

High-End Vehicle CD Receivers Going Away?

Question - can someone tell me if the Alpine head units are significantly different in terms of performance - ie UTE73BT against the HD149BT - is the 73BT just a mech less 149BT? Does Alpine's numbering sequence imply better specs in the 175 vs the 149 vs 73? Thank you

High-End Vehicle CD Receivers Going Away?

In my experience, 320 kb/s is tolerable but I can still hear noticeable improvements when using flac files. Even with my poor performing stereo and aged ears in a loud vehicle. Good source material makes even poor hardware sound better :-)

High-End Vehicle CD Receivers Going Away?

Late to this conversation - I just 'upgraded' to a affordable disc-less Alpine unit (UTE-73BT) and while I am not a fan of the interface it does the job. My audiophile stuff is in my house - I just want decent tunes in my noisy truck :) Micro 64Gb usb drive with FLAC plugged into the headunit...

Alpine UTE 73BT - user can't figure out new interface/control

Finally found a reason to get the truck running and spend more time trying to understand the new Alpine deck. Thanks to @Wh4t3v3rs who provided some very useful insights which allowed me to figure things out. For reasons I can't fathom, the default search level is at the track level. Once you...

Alpine UTE 73BT - user can't figure out new interface/control

@Cadillac Bob Very nice looking rig. On the tire thing - I am trying to get to ~13" but it will be difficult at 33" and that's why the M&H stuff at 30" might be what I have to look at but need to look at load ratings and this will require new 17 or 18 wheels :-( I had a previous Alpine unit in...

Alpine UTE 73BT - user can't figure out new interface/control

Thanks - clearly I am old school :) My next stupid undertaking is trying to lower it back down but still fit Nitto's new 420V at LT325/50/R20 on 12s (which are still 33" OD) under the truck - this will go badly, be expensive and super frustrating - I should just leave well enough alone but the...

Alpine UTE 73BT - user can't figure out new interface/control

This is one of the better ones of Das Boat, in my opinion - I am not very proficient at managing info on this site so I keep things simple and post as required/requested. Someday I'll document the journey I have had with this truck

    1998 K2500 Passlock/VATS Question

I'll add my limited experience - disabled VATS with HP Tuner as the security light was starting to stay on but I had no starting or driveability issues. After disabling, my security light stays off.
