    [WA] 2000 C3500 SRW

Selling my 2000 Chevy C3500 (2WD). Vortec L31 5.7L 350 w/ 4L80E, 8 lug 8600lb GWVR, 4-wheel ABS, 152,000 on the clock. I used this truck very briefly as a hunting rig, and to move from one apartment to another. The truck lived most its life in California and Nevada before being moved to Idaho...

2000 C3500 Possible Powertrain Grinding Noise

Alright, I'm looking for some advice on where to look as a ballpark - I've got a 2000 C3500 with the 5.7L and 4L80E, 4.10 14-bolt FF rear end, hydroboost brake master cylinder w/ ABS. -I'm getting a minor vibration and audible grinding noise at around 1400 RPM and 2300 RPM, that go away when...

    Back in a GMT400: 2000 C3500

Anywho, I wired in a new pigtail, whipped out the Hazard Freight grinder and sprayed some duplicolor I had left over from my old K2500 some years back, and that's the way she goes. Decent 10-footer, wouldn't notice unless you were looking for it. Popped a CHMSL off a junker in there just to...

    Back in a GMT400: 2000 C3500

Finally got some time to throw some part numbers at the new truck. Figured out three things regarding the temp needle not moving: radiator cap was bad, thermostat was stuck open, and the temp sender was non functional (gauge pinged high when grounded, low at 5v as reference voltage). So all...

    Back in a GMT400: 2000 C3500

Back in a GMT400 today, after having owned two before (1992 K2500, and a 1992 C1500). Probably going to hang onto this one for quite a while. Picked her up for $2500 - 2000 C3500 with a 5.7/4L80E, 4.10 full floater, 148k California truck, rust free. Guy wanted it off his property way up in the...

Back in a GMT400 - The Ugly Brown Farm Truck

Moving on - Out with the rusty black W/T bumper and bald tires, in with the minty junkyard chrome and fresh rubber: Had to burn out a bushing and mangle a shackle, but the back is lowered 2" now: Got 3" springs, 2" drop hangers, and a tonneau cover for next weekend's project: Wheels...

Back in a GMT400 - The Ugly Brown Farm Truck

Yes! I learned this lesson with my '93 K2500. Consider it done! :) Moved on with the cosmetic stuff; winter has really hampered my ability to work on this thing, with work-related projects taking up the shop space. Some things done so far- GMC Front end swapped: Transmission started...

Back in a GMT400 - The Ugly Brown Farm Truck

Thanks fellas, I appreciate the kind words. She's ugly but she'll get there :) Had to postpone the visual stuff - shackles, handles, etc. - for something a little more involved tonight. The truck has vibrated pretty roughly since I bought it, and I just figured that since it's a work truck, I'd...

Back in a GMT400 - The Ugly Brown Farm Truck

Thanks guys! It's a project for sure. Got the oil change and oil/fuel filter out of the way today as well. PO stripped the oil pan pretty good, but luckily a 1/2-20 oversized plug fit fairly snug, but we'll see. Removed the Delco radio and head unit, and the rusted out toolbox. Replaced...

Back in a GMT400 - The Ugly Brown Farm Truck

I'm back in a GMT400 and it's never felt so good - it feels like being home. This time I got an ugly brown work truck I'm going to try and breathe some new life into. Originally it was owned by my city's parks department, so everything is base-model. The previous owner bought it at auction some...

    GarrettGmc's 94 ecsb

Read this start to finish so far, awesome job! Definitely gives me some motivation for working on my c1500. Note on the transmission breather line - make sure and reroute it to the driver side with some tubing. Pretty sure I recall reading a recall from GM for it leaking onto the cat and igniting?

    Matt's 1987 LandCruiser

Going to make this short and sweet. I got this truck when I turned 20, and went to college for automotive. It'd been in my family since 1994, as our "mountain rig". Long story short, my dad got laid off some time in 2007 and the thing fell into disrepair as he was strapped for cash; oil changes...

    Matt's 1992 "Blizzard" K2500

Alright... been away for a long time and got some huge updates: Neighbor's psychotic wife decided to divorce him after he got laid off; he worked as a distributor for Pepperidge Farm and is now getting rid of his ~90s bread truck. It's got a low-mileage 4BT = new motor for the Chevy. :patriot...

3M Double-sided tape from O'Reilly's and four self-tapping steel screws - one on both inside corners, and one on each bottom end. Held up very well.

    Matt's 1992 "Blizzard" K2500

Alright, so lot of catching up to do.. and a lot going on over the next month or so: -Ordered new side trim, front valance, chrome wheel-well rings and chrome rockers from LMC truck. Put the NBS chomes back on, black work wheels are going on the Toyota. -Pulling the nerf bars and tonneau cover...

Shhh, let me believe my motor isn't as tired as it is! Also, how do the body lift bolts match stock mounts - do they keep threading through the holes up 3"?

    Matt's 1992 "Blizzard" K2500

Thanks man! I started thinking about the egg crate thing when I read that, and couldn't get it out of my head. I tried to let it grow on me, but it's just not working... every time I walked toward my truck I couldn't help but think of a giant egg crate on the front LOL. I decided to go with the...

MDR, are you running any sort of lift (suspension/body)? I love that stance. Pre-plow install:

    High oil pressure?

Had a problem like that on my Toyota with a stick oil pressure relief valve, but I'm not aware that that's an issue with most SBCs. 60psi is well within normal operating range outside of idle. Very general rule of thumb is 22psi+10psi per every 1000 rpm.

    Matt's 1992 "Blizzard" K2500

Thanks! Trying to make this thing as clean as possible before I drop it back down on the stock frame. Ditching the GMC grille for now until I have more time to dedicate to the conversion. Decided to just color-match the black grille and see how it looked. It's big, it's in-your-face, and it's...

Future build ideas. Input from more experienced users wanted.

Sounds like you don't really know what you want to do? If it were me, I'd start taking a look at other trucks and see what route you want to go before throwing your wallet at yours. It'll save you a ton of money in the future after flip-flopping through ideas (ask me how I know). Like you, I'm...

Will do! Getting some Energy Suspension replacements, and still need to source the factory size for the body mount bolts, then I'll PM you for sure; might be a couple weeks, though. Tonight's project ended a bit short. Apparently I didn't do enough homework and need some sort of lower bumper...

    Matt's 1992 "Blizzard" K2500

Quick update: Thinking about taking the body lift off, then cranking up the front end to level and trimming fenders/valance to accommodate the 285s. I really don't like how much frame I'm showing, and I feel like it takes a lot away from the appearance. Found a junked 89 K3500 in a salvage...
