    Mode Actuator Repair/Replacement

https://www.gmt400.com/threads/hvac-actuators-do-them-all-proactively.63323/ I found this thread and @AK49BWL mentions springs and retainers falling out and causing the vent and defrost to never turn off. Sounds like that might be my issue and I can't get any air out of the floor which sucks...

I need a rear 14bff DRW hub, PN? Where to find?

All was going well patching up my rear axle in the dually until I pressed the inner race in and realized it wasn't tight in there. F me, one look at the old one and yep it spun, galled, and otherwise destroyed the hub. So much for a cheap fix. I'm not sure what part number I'm after or if DRW...

Spindle Thread Restoral, What Size Threads?

I've got a 97 C1500 in my garage with a pretty new rotor that's trashed. The threads are a little boogered up and I'm not getting them 100% here with the thread file. It's a 1.25mm pitch and the threads are just over 19mm in diameter. Would this be a 19x1.25 or 20x1.25 die? Any other tips or...

TH400 Governor Modification for WOT shifting

Has anyone ever monkeyed with their TH400 governor? I need to get this one on my Monte shifting higher WOT, it's not done building steam at 4100. And for some lame reason it ignores attempts to manually shift 1-2 and 2-3. What I'm wondering is where to grind/drill is best, how much, etc. I'm...

    Radiator End Tank Replacement?

I guess this goes here? Right before we left for MI, the dually decided to crack the end tank. Lovely. I had 2 suitable spares at my hangar, so I cleaned and installed the crustier of the 2 and it worked great until we were headed back. Same crack in the exact same place. Made it another 1000...

PN for heater hose barbed fitting with restrictor?

This was posted recently (by my standards) and I'll be d@mn3d if I can find it. Somewhere out there is a GM part number for a barbed fitting that goes in the intake that has the correct size restrictor inside of it. Since I blew up a heater hose and don't feel like paying $46 for a damn hose, I...

    DIY Frame Straightening?

This seems as good a place as any as there isn't exactly a frame section. This is regarding the CCSB with a bent frame I recently picked up cheap. I already had it to the frame shop and it's definitely fixable, but it's been a week and still no estimate in my email inbox so I get the impression...

The Plow Truck: 99 454 CCSB

As some may have seen in my posts, I've been after an 8 lugger to hang a plow off of for my move back to MI. I have a couple years, so I wanted to take my time and get a good deal. This one came up, it has a salvage title (though I'm not sure why), and is a stolen recovery. Someone swiped it...

Somebody Buy This! 2500 ECSB 454/5 Speed

Unlikely to have any rust coming from here too. https://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/d/colorado-springs-rare-find-1998-chevy/7542900462.html

    Leaky slip yoke question

I have a 97 C1500 5.0/4L60 truck in my driveway with a leaky yoke. I'm inclined to just get the yoke out by itself, get it squeaky clean, weld the hole shut and send it. Is there a compelling reason not to? And is it possible that it has this crazy contraption inside that I should instead address?

    Annoying Assed Popup Ads

@kennythewelder @df2x4 I can't remember any other mods off hand, but you guys are responsive. Can we get rid of that intrusive popup that gets in the way of clicking on notifications? I scrolled up to get rid of it and right as I went to click a notification it popped back up again and took me...

    Depinning the Fan Blower Switch?

My blower motor quit working entirely in my 1500. I was horsing with the blower switch and figured I just killed it, it had been on the fritz here and there recently so I grabbed a couple HVAC panels from the pull and pay rather than fork over $170 for a new one. Good thing I did! That wasn't...

    350 Vortec stock crank keyway

I need one of these to convert my LT1 to OBDII. I figured I could just jump online and have one this week. Looks like that's not the case. Sadly, I trashed the crank for my core years ago that would have had what I need now.

    Sticky Locks, Where to Look?

Ever since I got the dually, I've lived with 2 sticky locks. Lately I've got a bug up my ass to fix it, so I'm wondering if you guys have found common causes? Basically when I hit the electric locks, they're not strong enough to actuate 2 of the doors. You can physically feel that they're...

1998 Chevy Crew Cab Dually 4x4

Derr, I went and made a CL ad, can't hurt to post up in here too. Here's the CL ad. https://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/d/peyton-1998-gmc-sierra-k3500-dually/7358135447.html It's the truck I bought to sell, so if anyone here is interested give me a holler. Here's the build thread for it...

    Cruise Control Repair

So the cruise died on my 98. I tried the Google machine and all I can find is the older vacuum stuff. I found one thread on here where @someotherguy mentioned failed solder joints, but nobody mentioned how to split the thing apart. That was the ONLY thread I found on my phone. I unscrewed the...

How To Replace/Where To Find Tilt Steering Joint?

My dually feels like the tilt joint up top is shot. Yes the rag joint is too, but this feels different. I'm wondering how the joint itself comes apart and where to find it? I went to GMPartsDirect and, while all the stuff is discontinued, they don't even show the joint itself to run down a part...

    P0404 Help

My flipper dually threw a P0404, an EGR code. Today I pulled it with my scanner instead of my friend's band it reads as an EGR flow code. I removed the valve, inspected, and cleaned it. It looked clean inside, not gummed up at all and very little carbon sticking. The plunger seems to move freely...

    Old 454 Crate Motor Specs

So the motor and trans (454/TH400) in my dad's Monte Carlo came from a 1990ish motorhome built on a Workhorse chassis. At some point in its life, the motor was replaced with a GM crate engine. The casting numbers tell the tale. It appears to have started life as a MarkIV engine before the crate...

Where to find a single plug wire?

I broke my #1 plug wire and need a replacement. They're only a couple years old and would be a waste to replace them all. Hell, if I could crimp a new end onto this one I have some shorter wires to pillage good boots off of. Mine got roached when the exhaust manifold stud snapped and relieved a...

454 Vortec EGR Pipe Cap Sizes?

Anyone know the size cap needed to plug the EGR hose coming off the driver's side manifold to intake manifold? With the transmission in the truck it looks about impossible to get that damn hose back on.

    Most Aggressive Rear Shoes?

I'm knocking out a big round of maintenance on my dually this month, just got the drums off and I'm in need of rear shoes. Raybestos has their professional line as does AC Delco, both of those are organic. I was hoping for something with a bit more bite due to the weight of my camper and...

4WD Switch Panel Dead, No 4WD Hi or Lo

I searched and thought that this thread would be helpful. https://www.gmt400.com/threads/push-button-4wd-help.11634/page-2 Apparently this truck has a transfer case control module (TCCM), but for the life of me I cannot find the fucking thing. I dropped the glove box door down and popped the...

Let's See Your Wireless Phone Chargers

All I'm seeing on Amazon are the kind that clip into your heat vent and the suction cup kind. I can't envision either of those working for me, so I'd like to see what's working for everyone else cuz maybe I'm full of crap.

Stock Gen V vs Gen VI Head Specs

I have a 454 swapped Monte Carlo, but it's a Gen V motor. It has a Comp 256 cam and longtube headers, but is shackled with the Gen V heads and stock 4bbl intake. I've been thinking the cheap, easy route to make it breathe a little better would be stock Gen VI heads and a bit more cam with...
