    98 C1500 L31 Rear 02 Delete in HPTuners

So, now that I have my son's truck running (Goodbye Passlock!) I want to tune out the rear o2's using HPTuners. I've done a lot of searching (on the forum, on Youtube, and Google) but everything i've found gives me the impression that deleting the rear o2's is nothing more than unchecking the...

    98 C1500 Starts but shuts off after 1 - 2 seconds

Well Gents, deleting Passlock solved the problem! Thanks again for the advice!

    98 C1500 Starts but shuts off after 1 - 2 seconds

Hmm, interesting. The forum posts I saw specifically state that Passlock shuts off the fuel pump, not the injectors, thus why I hot wired the fuel pump. The security light on the dash did not flash at all either, and it seems if the problem is Passlock related, the security light is supposed to...

    98 C1500 Starts but shuts off after 1 - 2 seconds

My son has a 98 C1500 with the L31 vortec motor. The truck has 210k miles on it. He started having an intermittent issue where the engine will start then shut off after 1 - 2 seconds. Usually, he could cycle the key several times to get the truck to start, but a couple times he had to borrow his...

    Speedo Issues

I didn't have time to change out the clusters, so I decided to track the odometer and trip meter and compare it to miles driven on my gps speedometer app. I reset all 3 in my driveway and drove to work. The results were: Odometer: 29.3 miles Trip: 29.2 miles GPS: 29.51 Using the GM...

    Speedo Issues

I'm gonna hit the junkyard this weekend and see if i cant grab some circuit boards and speedo motors out of several tach/speedo clusters (hopefully it'll be cheaper than paying for the whole cluster) to play with, swap between, etc. I'll look in Model Electronics tho. Thanks!

    Speedo Issues

I'm going to put the non-tach cluster back in to verify the issue indeed speedo, and not something else. Perhaps someone will know if the circuit board inside the cluster and/or the stepper motors can be swapped between the clusters.

    Speedo Issues

My speedo just started reading 10 mph high. Now, please keep in mind, my truck is not stock, nor does it have any of the factory speedo wiring. No DRAC, No VSSB, etc..... My truck has the TCI EZ-TCU running the factory speedometer. This issue cropped up when I switched from the 93 speedo only...

    Manual windows/locks to power windows/locks

I've read BHBurban's write up and searched a lot of forums. I have several questions that I haven't found good answers to. My truck is a 93 RCSB Cheyenne. I would prefer to use the 95+ harness with relays over the 88-94 harness: Will the 95+ harness plug directly into my 93 fuse box? Will the...

    93 Chevy RCSB

I also started replacing my factory gauges with Autometers..... and I installed a B&M Pro-Stick to control the 4L80. I blacked all the shifter components and eventually the white ball and aluminum cover will go away as well.

    93 Chevy RCSB

After putting the truck back together, I had a horrible time trying to get the remote TPS to adjust properly due to a poor design. In order to get a .5v reading I had to adjust the TPS thru a third of its movement range. When I would attempt to calibrate the TPS in the tcu settings, pressing the...

    93 Chevy RCSB

The trans install was fairly straight forward, my stock flywheel, crossmember and driveshaft all worked. The crossmember moved back ~ 4", the front set of holes was already drilled in the frame, I just had to drill the rear two holes. Luckily my stock yoke was incredibly long, I bought a...

    93 Chevy RCSB

Over the past several months I have made big changes to the truck. The stock 4L60e died so I replaced it with a Monster Trans 4L80 and TCI Ez-TCU.... Because I removed all the factory pcm wiring and pcm, I used the factory pcm location to mount the tcu. Works great and easy to access by...

    power distribution block retrofit

Has anyone retrofitted the underhood power distribution block from a 99+ truck into a 88-94 gmt400? I am in the process of removing all the unnecessary wiring from my truck (all factory computer wiring) and would love to get rid of the fusible links on the firewall and relocate that cluster of...

Ardent Fab Custom Axle Flip, C-Notch, and Shock Relocation

Are you making those lower brackets to sell? And where did you find the top shock mounts? Part # on the shocks? I need to drop mine another 3", so a flip kit is in my future as well. Would be nice to make all these changes at once.

    Vortec motor

To each his own..... In this case he was specifically asking about vortec motors, not a recommendation for a motor swap.

    Vortec motor

Seconded! I just put the L31 Vortec crate motor in my truck with a dual plane intake, 750 carb, and headers. Bone stock otherwise. Runs damn good and you can't beat the price.

    4l80E VSS

So I am currently swapping my 4L60e over to a built 4L80e. The 4L80 did NOT come with a VSS. Can I use the VSS from my 4L60? I am using an aftermarket controller so I only need the rear VSS, not the ISS. If I can't use the 4L60 VSS, what would you recommend?

    4l80e and a carb

All true. I am currently using the B&M remote TPS hooked up to the factory TPS wiring and the purple wire from the distributor harness plugged into the tach terminal on my HEI. Leave the coolant temp sensor plugged in on the intake. That's all you need to keep the factory computer running the...

    93 4L60e to 4L80e

I don't know. To be able to get rid of the drac completely and simplify wiring in the truck for future mods, it seems like going with an aftermarket controller may ultimately be simpler. Not to mention sourcing a good TBI computer for a 4L80 in the junkyard.

    93 4L60e to 4L80e

unless of course you have already shortened several before and know what you are doing. /shrug I'll look into gearheadefi for computer info.

    93 4L60e to 4L80e

My truck is now carb'd so I don't need the TBI portion, just the TCM programming. I may just buy the TCI EZ TCU and cut my losses there. This would also the speedo issues as I could completely bypass the drac. The truck is 2WD so no tcase crap needed. Ii can shorten the driveshaft myself if it...

    93 4L60e to 4L80e

The 60e is headed out the door. Rather than deal with a mediocre piece of ****, I'm going to swap in a 80e. I have most of the wiring figured out (swap white and brown wire at the trans connector, add ISS wiring, etc). My truck is now carb'd, but the stock computer is running the 60e with a...

    experienced advice requested for overhaul

The cylinder head architecture is completely different between the SBC and LS style motors. As such their cam timing requirements are completely different. Stock LS heads flow as good (and sometimes better) than many aftermarket SBC heads. With that being said, stay under 210 degrees @ .050...
