1998 black box programming options ? Help .

I’m getting ready to do a 411 swap on my vortec, maybe this weekend. I made my own conversion chart based on wiring diagrams from my factory service manual. I’ll share it here if it works out, but the devil is in the details, and I have things mapped that may not apply to you (8600 gvwr, 4l80e...

Transfer Case Fill Plug - Stripped!

Ok, here's what I ended up doing. I needed to drill out the plug almost all the way through with a 3/8" bit. I also had a rearward clearance issue (riveted in cross member behind the torsion bar crossmember) so I had to cut the bit down with a grinder. I took about half an inch off the chuck end...

Transfer Case Fill Plug - Stripped!

Anyone know where to get the square style extractor that has a nut that slips over the end (i.e. turn it with a wrench or socket instead of a tap handle)?

Transfer Case Fill Plug - Stripped!

Nice and clean, I couldn't read my tag as it was covered in mud. Save some $ and return the heat gun. If you're careful, a torch will do the same and get it way hotter. I used MAP/propane briefly (10-15 seconds), and it got super hot. Just don't let it start smoking! Yours still looks square...

Transfer Case Fill Plug - Stripped!

I had previously tried the brute force version of that (cold chisel on the edge counter clockwise after heating with the torch; no go)... it's nice to see we all have the same bag of tricks! I'm thinking of drilling through and using the square style extractor next.

Transfer Case Fill Plug - Stripped!

I know this one has been discussed before, but I'm at my wits end on this. Relevant info: 1998 Suburban K2500, >8600 GWVR, 4L80 trans, NP246 diff I have the old style (1/4" drive aluminum fill plug), which I've managed to strip round. I spend the day today trying to get it out, only to...

1998 K2500 Suburban - Power Lock Electrical Gremlin

Update, and solved. Turns out there must have been a short or something in... The power for the drivers seat (has power moment, tilt/recline and lumbar support... RPO AC9). I unplugged the connector for this one, and everything's back to normal. Don't ask how I figured this out.

1998 K2500 Suburban - Power Lock Electrical Gremlin

Long time reader, first post. I've got a bit of an electrical gremlin that took up residence in my power lock system. As backrgound, I have the factory keyless entry (AU0 RPO). The Symptoms: With the vehicle off and sitting for a while (i.e. overnight), I can open the door, and work the power...
