    Thinking About Power Upgrades

I've got a buddy selling a 350 and engine stand for $200... And a decent 383 kit is only 800. How difficult is it to swap over to carb?

    Thinking About Power Upgrades

Already planned on regearing and doing a SAS. This will be my daily driver work truck, but I want it to be able to play in the mud on the weekends. Money really isn't an object, it'll just be a long-term project. I want to do something major to it this spring, just not sure what. If it will make...

    Thinking About Power Upgrades

I have a 92 k1500 with a 350 TBI. Will this engine be powerful enough to do decent mudding? I will be upgrading to 38˝ tires in the future. I just want to make sure I've got enough power to handle that kind of hobby... If not, would it be better to supercharge, or go with a twin Turbo setup...

    Lift Questions

I'll just keep reading on here, and hopefully by spring when I have the cash to do everything I can get it done in a weekend. Those pit bull tires look awesome, but I was planning on going with Interco TSL Boggers. They make a 42.5" but I'll need new wheels as well since the stock rims are too...

    Lift Questions

I'd do a SAS, but I also can't have my work truck out of commission for a long period of time. If I I've everything I need can it be swapped in a weekend?

    Lift Questions

Is the reduced maintenance cost worth the cost of swapping? Will it make a lift considerably cheaper as well?

    Lift Questions

With that kind of cost, I'm further ahead buying the IFS lift kit and leaving it at that.

    Lift Questions

It's not going to be strictly mud, it'll be my work truck. And I'd like to go bigger than 35's, I think 44's would be damn sexy. I just don't know if I can foot the cost, or pay for wear and tear from going that big. So where's the best place to buy a Ford axle, and how complicated is the swap?

    Lift Questions

So who's the best manufacturer to purchase one from? And is a Detroit locker for the rear worth the money, or should I just get a full-on spool?

    Lift Questions

So I just buy a rear axle assembly from a junkyard or something similar? What all do I need to change to get this accomplished? And then what do i get for a lift kit?

    Lift Questions

What does that all entail? And how does that help me achieve a higher lift for less money?

    What is SAS?

    Lift Questions

Holy CRAP those kits are expensive. Maybe I should stick with 6" lift and 35's... That should be good enough for playing in the mud... right? There's also the "buy once, cry once" theory, but I don't know if I can convince my better half I need to spend $3500 on a lift kit.

    Lift Questions

Do they make a suspension lift greater than 6"? I haven't been able to find one...

    Lift Questions

So will 38's cause more stress than 35's? Does it help to re-gear the differentials? I would think with low enough gearing, the stress would be minimal...

    Lift Questions

I was hoping to run at least 38's, but I also don't want to cause stress to other areas of the truck.

    Lift Questions

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for putting up with the inane questions of a newbie. :)

    Lift Questions

I checked out Energy Suspension. It looks like they replace the stock size body mounts. Do body lift kits not do this? Are they just an add-on to your existing setup?

    Lift Questions

I'll stick with 35" then. The lift kit I was looking at said I could use 35" but I figured if I added the body lift I could go bigger. But as you said, more clearance for mud isn't a bad idea... This will be my weekend playtoy when I'm not driving it to work. Thanks for the input guys, I'll...

    Lift Questions

Hey guys, this is my first truck I've thought about modifying. I've always wanted a lifted truck, and I just bought one this last weekend. I got a 1992 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4. I'm looking at bolting on a 6" suspension lift and a 2" body lift. I'm rather mechanically inclined, but I've never done...
