    '89 1500 build thread

I used the rack from a chevrolet beretta but all other parts were custom made. Never made it to the road though because the tie rods hit the sway bar at max steering angle. Since I was in a hurry to get it back on the road I removed everything and installed the steering box again. But it worked...

    1989 Chevy speedo

It's a 2wd and I got it working, I connected the controllers output signal to the wire from the speed sensor that goes to the bulkhead and the other one, I used as a ground. Works perfect!

    1989 Chevy speedo

The 4L60E has a standalone controller that provides an output signal which can be used but how should I connect it to the original wiring? Not sure about the color codes of the original wiring and they also were cut. It is also a 2-wire sensor on the TH700. Don't want to experiment to much as I...

    1989 Chevy speedo

I replaced the TH700R4 in my 89 C1500 with a 4L60E and a Painless Torc transmission controller. Everything is working except, I have no idea how to hook up the speedo. The controller has an output signal (1 wire) but how do I connect it to the speedo? Anyone got an idea how I can have the...

    Radiator

I will be using an aluminum tank because I had to relocate the original one. Where the old tank was, are now the electronics for the EFI I'm building. This is the new tank but not yet finished though. The back plate still has to be welded and another (or 2) nipple(s). Don't mind the...

    Radiator

I've got a 34" radiator from a 2007 Silverado that I want to use in my 89 c1500. Just not sure what all the connections are for or where they should go.... The oil cooler and the 2 large connections for the water are obvious but I got 2 smaller connections that I don't know for sure...

    multi belt issue

I got the spacers and everything lines up perfectly now but I ran into another problem with the belt tensioner. The belt is rubbing the underside of the tensioner although in the picture I used a belt that's too short. Also the tensioner came of the old steel bracket, not sure if they are the...

    Anyone boxed their frame?

i've done it with my truck but the project isn't finished yet.

    multi belt issue

I guess a spacer is easier and I don't have a mill do shave the brackets. I understand that a little difference is ok for QC but 3/16??

    multi belt issue

I'm building a SBC toppped with a Pro Flo XT manifold. The old steel accessories bracket had to go because of the throttle body inlet track and waterneck hitting the back of it. I replace it with later aluminum brackets. OLD NEW (well half of them at least) The issue I'm...

Bed out of line, mounts or bent frame?

I have the same issue and I know for sure the mounts are not rotten. Recently I have sandblasted the frame and used new body mounts, still the alignement of the bed and cab is about 1/2" off.

    '89 1500 build thread

Everything was sandblasted so there's no rust. This is how the mounts looked like before... if i'd shim the body enough to make the body and bed level again, I probably need other bolts as well.

    '89 1500 build thread

Long time no update but still there's some progress, although it is more a question... The cab and bed is back in place but they don't line up anymore. The cab seems to sit 1/2" too low and I have no idea where it could come from. Body mounts are new and bed is sitting nicely on the frame. it's...

    Coil connectors

I think I found them, anyone to confirm that the connectors offered here on Ebay are correct?

    Coil connectors

Just to make sure, not looking for a pigtail but for a complete unassembled connector.

    Coil connectors

Anyone got an idea where I can order online a connector for LS coils? I'm making my own wiring loom and since I live in Europe, it is not so easy to get this from a junk yard. I have no idea of the part number either... Just the numbers on the OEM connector would be helpfull as well!

    How to Carb a 1993 5.7 with 4L60E

You'll need a stand alone controller for your 4l60e. That and a carb (unless you already have one) will be well over 800$....

    '89 1500 build thread

It is already in place and works but the sway bar just hits both ends of the rack. So either I have to drive without sway bar, mount the rack in a slightly different position, use another rack or just keep the old steering box. There's no progress now due to the winter and the fact that my...

    '89 1500 build thread

Progress on the back of the frame, welded a beam between the frame rails and finished the boxing. Notched the frame enough to flip the axle. next step is fitting the steering rack.

    '89 1500 build thread

Sandblasted the frame boxing the frame, all done in the workplace of the guy who did the sandblasting. Shortened the crossmember and welded back in place. transmission crossmember was pretty messed up. When I bought the truck, the transmission mount...

    '89 1500 build thread

Started with the front and removed the radiator support. The bodymounts are gone, I was going to replace them anyway.... Everything bagged and labelled. Removed the interior Old steeringbox has to ga as well, too much play (and has been adjusted before...

    '89 1500 build thread

Finally my build thread, I already started last year (actually November 2013) and still not finished.... It is an 89 Chevrolet (although it has a GMC grill), with a ZZ4, th700 and 2wd. It is lowered 2 - 4 and has 17" Boyd Rodders, they need to be polished again... This is my truck when I...

    where used?

You could be right, they are about that size. In that case, I won't need them anymore because I use SS washers now for the leaf springs.

    where used?

I guess they aren't important, truck is not done yet but I still didn't need them. No they are not brass, they are zinc-coated
