Hi all, just trying to work out if my 93 k1500 originally had a tail gate band!
Is there a RPO code for this or does it just go by model/year?
Any imput with this would be much appreciated.
Cheers

I don't believe there was an RPO code for that option, but I could be wrong. I'll try to remember to grab my VIN lookup paperwork out of my truck when I take it in for the transmission swap in a couple weeks, it has the chrome banner.

If you feel like spending $5, http://www.compnine.com has a great service. You input your VIN and they give you a list of every RPO code on the truck and a description of 99% of them. Also lots of neat facts like how many vehicles from that model year that were produced with certain RPOs. You can enter your VIN for free on their home page before you spend any money just to make sure a report is available.

Great thanks for that, that's really cool.
Keen to put one on sometime if it had one originally!
All the best with the trans swap.

Only Silverados, and Sierras had an aluminum tail gate band, on a gmt 400. Remember that these two trucks were top of the line in there day. Like the LTZ is today. If your truck is one of these, then it would have had the aluminum band. The GMC would say just that on it and the Cheverlot would say Cheverlot

Thanks for all the replies, been very helpful.
Yes it is a Silverado so probably had one. It's just got an after market GMC grill at the moment which I modified with a bow tie emblem because it is a Chevy, like the shape of the GMC grill though!
Need to find an original chrome grill and the tail gate banner, bit more difficult on this side of the planet.

It is hard to find an aluminum banner for these trucks. If you find a used one that is still good, you better grab it. You can always repaint the black where it says Cheverlot, and if you can get a GMC one, those are very very rear. They can be removed from a tailgate with strong fishing string, and 2 handles made from whatever. 2 sticks will work. You just work it back and forth, like a saw to cut through the old double sided tape. LMC claims to have them on there web sight, but I have heard that they are discontinued. IDK for sure.

The original ACDelco banners are discontinued, but like Kenny mentioned LMC Truck has GM licensed reproductions. I've never seen one in person but I have used some other parts branded as "GM Restoration Parts" and I was impressed with the quality.
