You guys with bigger (Or should i say heavier) loads how are ya'll getting up to speed nicely? I get the left arrow green and by the time I'm crossing the damn crosswalk to finish the turn its red. (Let me add that means all of my trailer is still in the middle of the intersection).

You guys just rolling into full throttle or what? (And yes I know I got an excessively heavy trailer lol) I've never felt so lacking on the gearing of the 4l80 which first is stupid tall...

Let me add I am also being a baby on the throttle only getting into maybe 2/3 - 1/2 as I'm worried about burning up the tranny (I bought a bluetooth OBO reader however it can't read trans temp :(.... )I only move this trailer very short distances (10-20miles radius).

Edit: I have 97 3500 454/4l80e/4:10's

I have 4.56s but a little less motor with a TBI. Personally I just baby it. When im towing, I’m not worried about getting there fast. People can honk or yell if they want. I’m more worried about the fuel consumption than burning up my transmission though.

I'm towing an 18k trailer, I mean I could try give more gas to get it to go. For me once I hit about 35mph going faster isn't a problem. However getting to 35/40.... Takes some serious time...

I'd say F*** em if they can't take a joke. do what you gotta do. that green light lets you into the intersection, my understanding is that you just have to be able to clear the intersection, as in traffic not backed up leaving you you stuck in the way. I only tow about a third of that weight but i take a corner like that pretty slow just to keep things from flying around in the trailer

One option would be to switch to 4.56 axle gears. But I would say save your wallet and just keep doing what youre doing. Cheapest option for gas and mods.

When I had my toy hauler and was loaded ready for camping for the desert I would just step on the skinny pedal normally.Having a 454 and 4:56 gears are no doubt a benefit. The trailer weighed about 8,000 lbs. and had no problem getting up to speed.Again,I believe the gearing was the biggest help.

Ok, I will just deal with it as I don't move it often. I moved it maybe 3 times. I plan on getting a bigger truck later but I gotta save some coin for that.

The trailer by the way is a 45ft Cyclone Toy Hauler.. Truck takes the weight into bed great even with no air in the bags it doesn't sag ass end down. But getting up to speed and moving. Eh different story. Stopping on the other hand... Trailer says stop... YOU STOP.. lol.

The 454 is pretty gutless stock, so that doesn't help. I'm hoping the exhaust does a lot. Throttle body and tune have helped, but my 1500 will still outpull the dually from a power perspective. Low RPM or high.
