You might get better mileage if you didn't have to dodge all those crazy white Lada 2107's :Big Laugh:
We have really heavy traffic in Moscow, not synchronized traffic lights, narrow roads, stupid infrastructure, erratic or small parkings, a lot of vehicles (for 15 million population city we have 5-6 millions vehicles.... BUT main problem is that ppl have no driving culture and ethics at all. That's why you can drive 10 miles for 2 hours and get awful mileage

On my 5.7 vortec I have approx 5-8 gallons per 60 miles

That's excessive under almost any conditions, if the engine is operating correctly. Maybe the pumps you use are ripping you off. Ever measure what one considers a "gallon" ?

Here, the pumps are inspected every now and then, and an inspection sticker with date indicated is applied to the pump. Even with this inspection program in place, station owners get caught sometimes with pumps that deliver far less than they are supposed to. Mechanical problems happen, but some of it seems to be more than coincidence.

I agree with you on point about pumps.
Also, I could count incorrect by the way. Here in Russia we measure fuel consumption as liters/100 kilometers, and you guys I'm America do it as miles/gallon. I'm not very familiar with miles, gallons and another units but I checked out and 1 gal is 3.3 liters and mile is 1.6 km. So I believe I counted correct 5-8 gals per 60 miles, that is like 12-25 liters per 100 kilometers depending on conditions (highway, town, traffic)

However I have cats and oxygen sensors removed, 3.42 axle ratio and 255/65 r17 wheels that is near to stock size

Also I know that my truck takes more than one half of gal per hour running on parking or neutral (1.8 litre per hour)

I was just joking about how on every Russian youtube crash video, there always seems to be a white Lada Riva involved
You certainly have lots of congestion over there.

You can run no cats, but you need an oxy sensor so the exhaust gas can tell the computer what your burnt gas is like and whether to adjust the fuel/air mixture. Your truck could be running very rich, hence the poor mi/gal.

Lol
Guys on Lada are always crazy/drunk/ or immigrants

The strange thing about oxygen sensor is that my truck hasn't any harness for this sensor and there aren't any marks/traces on exhaust line where it could be installed, so I believe my truck was some kind of of export version for Arabic/Kuwait places and sensors removed by manufacturer. At least I've been told so lol

Truck runs rich especially during warming up, it's even smells a bit with unburnt gasoline but at hot idle it seems to be OK. Main problem that I bought this truck two years ago and I have no clue about what happened to it in the past lol I'm gonna rebuild engine soon though

By the way, could you tell me please where I can decode my VIN?

11mpg is AOK for that rig. My dually gets 10 on the highway. They're just pigs, no 2 ways about it.

Exactly, back in the day, I got 9 with my 454ss...9 City, 9 Highway, 9 up hills, 9 down hills...it was 9. I could also get it down to 7.5-8 if I went faster then 65 on the highway. Good times...good times..LOL

If you guys are concerned about your gas mileage, one thing to verify is that your coolant temperature sensor is reading accurately. I am not talking about the one that screws into the cylinder head and drives the gauge on your dash, but rather the one that is screwed in next to your thermostat. That one beside the thermostat is what your ECM reads.

The one on one of my 1999 Suburbans was reading inaccurately, would never read above 150 f according to my scan tool. The truck has to get to somewhere around 185 to 190 before the ECM begins running the proper fuel-air ratio.

Find a scan tool that can measure what the OBD2 system thinks the coolant temperature is. If you have a 195 thermostat, and you cannot get the OBD system to read at least 188 or higher, it may actually be that hot, but the computer won't know it, and constantly running rich.

Also note, my only experience is the 5.7. I'm assuming the Big Blocks and diesels have a similar scenario that could happen
