Question, on my 96 3/4 ton 2wd truck is there a code for FF or SF? I know it's a 3:73 gear but not a posi unit and I'd like to add that but I'm not sure what's available for it.
RPO codes in glovebox will specify everything your truck came with.

For example:

GT4 = 3.73
GT5= 4.11
G80 = GovLoc

SF is for the 350 trucks and FF for the 6.5 and 454 trucks.

Take a look at your diff cover. A sf will look like an oval and a ff will have a "V" shape at the bottom. If its a 6 lug 14 bolt then its a sf for sure. If its an 8 lug with a hub coming from the center with bolts, then its a ff. A sf can be either 6 or 8 lug and a ff is only 8 lug.

I have a loud knuckle cracking type sound coming from my front drivers side which only happens when the suspension loads or unloads or happens constantly when turning right, which makes me thing it's a wheel bearing. Should I be replacing outer and inner? Summit shows me Timken Set3 for outer, not sure for inner. Truck is a 93 c1500 2wd

Just buy the hub assembly. It has the wheel bearing installed. Simple replacement with a few hand tools.

I would imagine a complete hub assembly would cost me crack money to ship to New Zealand, thanks for the advice anyway though.
It's not that bad mate - still shiteload cheaper than Autolign or ADL. I use Youshop through NZ Post for rotors and everything smaller. Kiwi Shipping for engines and the heavy stuff.

Can you get a hub assembly for a 2wd? I thought they were just replacement bearings, as it's the 4x4 that uses a replacement hub assembly. I have an almost brand new hub on the shelf but I don't think it's any use to you as you're 5 stud, correct?

Either way, ring SKF Bearings (their head office is down the road from me), they should be able to cross reference the Timken part numbers if you don't want to bring the required parts in.

I'd check the hub/steering first anyway before ordering parts. It could be worn bushes if it is only related to the suspension movement.

Take some pics, sometimes it's easier to see on the comp screen while drinking a refreshment than lying on yer back in the driveway :cheers:

I tried youshop for a front valance, was going to be nearly $500nzd because its over 160cm. I think kiwi shipping were $220 sea freight.

Yeah I am 5x5. Timken is only $9usd each from Summit for the outers so I ordered them along with some ball joints.

I don't mind the smaller stuff, but the big stuff gets expensive to ship.

Cheers

I have a clunk from i beleive the rear axle. At first i thought it was my converter but the few times ive caught it the rpms dont change. It now seems thru rigorous testing (shitload of driving) it clunks when im comin out of a corner. Its in the 50-75 mph range so usually when im runnin the old 2 lane roads between towns. Truck is optioned as a non posi but not sure if someone replaced it as i get both wheels spinnin in mud or snow. Ill save my 4wd question for after this.
