They are very good pads. I haven't towed anything yet but the bite on them is phenomenal. Anything would have been better though, the pads I had were cracked and in awful shape. Took us a bit to get it done mostly because of the slide bushings were seized. But its all good.

Wonderful. I'll keep these on the top of the list. Yeah, everything takes longer to work on with these trucks because there is always something else that needs to be fixed for the same project.

Yeah there is always something that needs to be worked on. I took the opportunity to replace the serp belt while everything was out of the way. The old belt had lost a lot of grip and allowed the water pump pulley to slip while I was taking the fan off. The new belt held it all tight during reassembly so I'm curious if there was some slippage on the water pump during my hot summer towing.

Just got around to replacing the both the idler pulley bearing and the tensioner assembly. Made a huge difference in quieting down the engine noise I was experiencing. The idler bearing was an easy press in press out. Pulled a chinese 6203 out and replaced it with a Japanese made Koyo. My plan was to do that with the tensioner pulley until I pulled it apart and noticed it was a plastic pulley with a captive bearing. I bought a delco replacement assembly since the tensioner spring seemed a little weak. Both bearings were dry and growly but still spun freely. Hopefully replacing collector gaskets will quiet it down even more, but every time I think about doing that job I look at those bolts and think its probably going to take twice as long than I think it should, and something is probably going to break.

I also found out that the steering wheel shaft boot had pulled itself out of the firewall. Probably explains why I felt a lot of hot air on my feet during the summer months.
