I was not easily able to find information on the secondary door speakers so I am making this post as a simple question. I understand the door panels (95-98) have 2 sets of speakers. The lower door speakers and the speakers by the window controls. I have heard there are some tweeter speakers, and some mids, I believe 2 inches on the tweeters? Is there a recommended upgrade for these small speakers? Or is it just a standard 2 inch tweeter? Is there an easy replacement for the lower ones as well? I think they are 6 1/4" as well.

I am getting a 1998 K1500 soon and want to upgrade the speakers on both front doors. I'm just looking for recommendations on decent replacement speakers for top and bottom.

i did them on my old obs. they are kind of a pain and the factory ones have a weird bracket. what I had to do was take the new tweeters and use duckseal to hold them in place. I never had a problem

Mids are 6.5", tweeters are much smaller than 2". I used DLS and Kicker component sets in my trucks, both of which came with separate 1" tweeters. They fit under the factory grilles, but just barely.

Is there some sort of crossover that separates the lower and upper door speaker sound or was 1995 not that advanced? I got my stereo and wiring kit ordered. Wondering if I will run in to any more issues once it is all hooked up.

I'm pretty sure the factory tweeter has some sort of high pass filter built into it, I never saw a factory external crossover on either of my '97s. Your new components will come with one, though.

I used a Polk Audio replacement kit with the tweeter/lower door panel components in my 1998 chevy ext cab. Fit right in the stock locations, but we did not use the lower speaker cover that came with the kit. Kept the stock ones. Much better sound, and they take up to 100 watts RMS!

When I upgraded my stereo equipment, I relocated the tweeters to the top of the door panel. I think it's well worth the hassle to fab up some kind of mount to get them higher.

I didnt even think of the HPF! The factory one has a sort of capacitor soldered to the terminals behind the magnet. I am not sure if aftermarkets have the same, or if they will need to be setup with an aftermarket HPF.

This is what I have been meaning to get: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130TST110/Pioneer-TS-T110.html?tp=107

It has a sort of grill lip around it, so my plan was to grind down the sides of the mounting ring on the door and drop it if I could. Then I could chop the factory connector, wire in a HPF and then to the tweeter.

I think I havent done it due to the fact that it still somewhat works well and sounds good, but they could be overshadowed by the 4-ways I have in the door.

Check these out on eBay item number 192264787727 now I have MA Audio in my front they are 4X6 and they can put out some highs which I like.

My son has a BMW 3 and the sound system sounds killer so if you look on eBay they have some tweeters that already have bass blockers look up Logic7 speakers.
