Browsing on the Facebook Classifieds makes me think buying and flipping these trucks is going to be a easy money deal.

Tons of trucks for dirt cheap with small issues, tons of solid trucks that people are trying to get rid of in a hurry; hell I about messaged a guy with a 97 ECSB Z71 for $500 bucks that needed a T-case.

Unfortunately up here in Canada, these trucks fall apart due to rust. Most of them I see are dirt cheap (sub $2000 CAD) and need extensive repair or restore, or are ridiculously expensive (above $7500 CAD) and are near perfect. I paid $2200 for my truck and spent $2450 on it a week later to get it through our yearly inspection and onto the road. I'm now $10k+ in parts and labor and have no intention to ever sell the truck. The laundry list for it grows too.

If I had to guess, I'd be able to get $4000 for mine without even trying. The last one I had sold at $3500 in a few hours and it wasn't as nice of shape.

Rust. All depends where you live in Canada. Here in Alberta pretty much has to be bare steel to rust. We don't have rusty cars on the road like you see in Atlantic provinces. I have a 30 year old truck where all the bolts still come off nice and easy. Nothing rusted or seized. And the truck has lived in Alberta all its life.
Also here in Alberta There's only a one time insurance inspection. Required by insurance company to insure vehicles older than 10 years. Some mechanics will fill one out for you without even seeing the vehicle. As long as they see the cash. Others, shops especially, use it as a way to rack up a customers bill as high as they can. It's a pretty simple inspection. Just general condition really. Not a detailed mechanical or pre purchase inspection. Most shops charge about $65 and there's lots of guys on Kijiji that will come to you to do it for $80. And no more inspections after the initial one. As well as no smog or emissions tests.
Personally I've never had a need to cheat on an insurance inspection. If it's not passing that then it's probably not safe for the road.
I'm curious what the rules for this are in other provinces/states.

It's crazy how much the prices for these trucks fluctuate between different parts of US/Canada. I paid $1200 for my truck last spring. Here in Ohio they are usually all rusted out, mine included, but the frame is good. Just rusty spots on the body in all the typical areas. The truck only had 78k miles when I got it and only needed tires, everything else on the truck was fine. $1200 for a running, driving, 350 stick shift 4x4 half ton pickup with under 80k miles? You can't beat that.

I bought my first 99 Suburban C1500 three years ago for $1500 with 192k miles and in pretty good shape (minor dents, good paint, obligatory cracked dashboard).

Now $1500 won't even buy one with a blown motor and 260k miles

Awesome! Found a guy selling a 95 half-ton ECSB that needs brake lines and rear ext. cab window, asking $1000, rusty, but not as bad as most. These trucks are getting cheap, buy them while they last. ;)

Bumper is actually not really rusty, if at all. o_O

Might double check but I think he meant that it needs a brake/tail light, not brake line. Look at the rear of the truck picture.

Yeah I noticed that too.

All in all, it looks like a decent truck for hauling wood and such. Hell look at those seats, mmm... Red interior is not my favorite color of interior, but it looks decent for it's age.

Those prices are insane. Might be worth it to start investing in importing vehicles.

My 95 c 3500 has the 454 with 27,000 actual miles. I use it to tow my fifth wheel camper and get stopped all the time with questions about it. i bought it 2 years ago with 22,000 miles. It was in great shape then but didnt like the fade paint job that was on it . I took it to my brothers shop and let him work some magic on it.
