Anyone else force shifts by slightly lifting gas pedal?

While accelerating I let the gas pedal lift about 1/8 to force a shift. Seems like this is much better for trans.

I've owned 4 GMT400s and have racked up close to 700,000 miles on them and had zero trans issues. All i have done is extracted 4 quarts of trans oils every 30,000-40,000 miles and replaced with fresh fluid....never dropped a pan or flushed.

Sometimes I'll let off a little bit so it'll shift earlier. Thing holds gears too long at part throttle. It's irritating. Wastes fuel and makes acceleration feel really labored.

Yes, it makes sense to unload torque while shifting. I assume it is less wear on clutch packs?
Good idea to keep fresh fluid introduced into trans. Ive done a complete drain at 60k and plan on doing it again at 90k.
