Slow go as I have way too many projects im slowly getting rid of.

I was driving to work (2nd day with new company) and the ole truck stumbled and died while I was cruising. managed to coast over to the shoulder and she Fired back up after a minute.... hopped out and looked under the truck and the Catalytic converter was bright orange.

So I snapped a couple pictures waiting for the tow truck.

towed her home, chopped off the cat, and sure enough, it was clogged.... Magnaflow cat, lasted a little over a year. Ive had em clog up before... but this one makes me wonder if some welding material got baked on the biscuit and slowly turned a melted piece of catalytic converter into one big melted ball. I had a check engine light on once, that was the TPS sensor, the 02 sensor was new, I dont know, seems really weird the converter barely lasted a year.

ended up ordering an heated 02 sensor to help it get into close loop faster. maybe it was running too rich too often, but not enough to throw a code.

So what's the total lift/tire size? Thing looks massive and I want one.

Looks good with the lift! Sucks that we have to keep the catalytic converters because... California. I had to replace them both on my 98 when I bought it, it ended up being like $650 for the pair because of "CARB" compliance.

Side note, luckily we smog once in my area, not biannual smog. Got my dodge with a family transfer and it still has some check engine light for something related to emissions. I just ignore it because I never have to smog it.

I've never heard of carb compliant gaskets though, that's gotta be some way of ripping people off.

Its 4.5" Spindle lift with basically 33" tires on it. (285/75/16's)

im In Southern California, Riverside Area.

Catalytic converters get super hot when there clogged, damn thing looked like it was pulled out of a furnace.

I worded it wrong, There isnt a Carb number on the gaskets...... however, No One would ship gaskets to California. Amazon, Jegs, Summit... etc. I think the only reason I could get gaskets through O'reily because they shipped em in from another store out of state. If theres a motor or fuel involved, they got there greasy hands on it.

I feel sorry for all you guys out in Commiefornia, it looks like it'd be a nice place aside from the big cities, the hipiberals, and all the emissions bullshit.

How do you like those Hankooks? My K2500 will be up for tires soon and I'm torn between BFGs, Coopers, or Hankook A/Ts.

I honestly dont think its that nice of a place, its super crowded, people litter there **** all over the place. and the sub burbs which used to be cool to live in are just morphing into big city **** holes. I got half a day of material on why this place sucks, but no one wants to hear that.

Ive had all 3 tire brands. I think BFG's are over rated. their a good tire, but not worth what they cost. I Like the Hankooks and the Coopers. it would probably be which ones I can get for cheaper for me, My tire buddy seems to be able to give me a better deal on Hankooks.
