It starts fine when first started for the day. But after that it cranks over several times before it fires off. Then when it does it runs fine. Has anyone had this problem? I have chked fuel pressure on it or regulator. I have put new timing set and distributor on it. Took to local guy and had timing set within specs. Was hoping that resolved my issue but it didnt. Thanks ahead for any info.

Is it cranking multiple times at normal speed or is it slow to crank before it starts?

Is the check engine light on?

Could be the coolant temperature sensor by the thermostat. If you have a scanner, see if it is reporting an oddball temperature. It should be close to ambient when cold, around 195 when warmed up, depending on what thermostat you have.

Next time it struggles to start, hold the gas to the floor. This temporarily stops the fuel injectors from firing.

If you replace it, the torque spec is 10 lb-ft. Too much and you can crack the intake.

It tells the computer to go into clear flood mode and stops the injectors temporarily. A bad coolant temperature sensor can sometimes cause the computer to call for too much fuel.

Tinfoil_hat,

Did you crack your intake?

I know a guy that looks exactly like me that cracked his and had to replace it.
