I've been looking for a good set of headers for the 96 k1500 suburban I've been fixing up for my wife. I'm pretty sure the cats are bad and I know she wants it louder. It's got the Vortec 5.7, 4l60e, and 3.42 gears with 285/75/16's, so I figure long tubes would be the way to go to maximize the torque for the tall gearing. I've been eyeballing this set on Amazon and I'm thinking of trying them out. Anyone else seen these or tried them? I intend to get the egr and downstream o2's tuned out and have no use for catalytic converters since I live in a non-emissions county. Here's the link...

Not sure but looks to me like they would have to tuck up into the frame pretty well for that y-pipe to fit. Also noticed the description says 2.5" outlet, but if you look at the pic showing the tube measurements with the digital caliper, looks like the outlet is actually 3" od. Should flow pretty well with 3" pipe and a decent muffler. I'm thinking Moroso spiral flow for my project.

Pretty cool, didn't know these were out there. I'm not much for foreign made...But if my Hedmans rust off, I might actually be interested in trying these next.

I'm all for buying American, but when it comes to headers I've seen the US made options and they aren't good at all unless you spend at least $450 for uncoated mild steel. The cheap foreign headers I've put on a few vehicles are stainless steel and all have had way better welds than the Hedmans and Hookers I have installed. I just can't justify spending $500 on junk headers that leak and rust when I can get stainless ones with beautiful welds and thick laser cut flanges for under $200. Equivalent US made headers are usually $1000+. I need decent headers and I'm on a very tight budget, so until an American manufacturer decides to lower their profit margins down from the astronomical levels they are at now, I'll just have to buy the foreign ones.

I just had that exact brand installed on my nbs truck. Not a bad set of headers. Well constructed imo. My only complaint is the crossover for the y pipe is clamped in the middle and creates a slight exhaust leak. I have to have another bung welded in to run my other rear o2 sensor also

Totally agreed. Amazes me...Unless you have a 2009+ something-or-other sports car and an extra $1,600, stainless is rarely even a choice on older trucks or muscle cars. I paid somewhere around $470 for my "thermal coated," Hedman Elite long tubes for my TBI truck. I had a heck of a time trying to find full length headers that fit a manual trans 4x4. They fit great, but I ended up roasting the coating on a new engine break-in. After looking at more reviews since I've owned them...Sounds like the extra price paid on the finish didn't hold up for others either. They're not show pretty anymore, but haven't rusted through after a couple hard, salt-ridden winters. Honestly I think it's just because the steel is so dang thick. I don't mind paying a little extra for American made, but if the quality isn't there...I may try to fit these stainless ones and fix up the merge collectors a little nicer.
