1995 GMC Sierra SL C2500

So I had my grille off recently to check my horn, and was looking at my headlamps, which I'd been putting off adjusting for some time now. Turns out, the headlamp buckets are not only pretty rusty, but a previous owner welded a bolt to what was left of one "ear" to hold one in place, rendering it no longer adjustable. I stopped at the parts store to see about replacement buckets, and they're not even listed on their computer nor in the physical book they had. They have the other dual-headlamp styles, but not the single sealed beam type as seen on the SL in my avatar.

So I've started looking online, and RockAuto lists a Dorman replacement (#42437), which I think (?) is the correct part, but I have to admit, I'm a bit surprised to see a nearly $50 price tag. That wouldn't be so bad if it was for a pair of buckets, but it appears the Dorman "kit" consists of just one bucket and one chrome ring.

So I ran a search using the Dorman part number, and kinda got carried away going down a rabbit hole of reverse-lookups. Near as I can tell, this seems to be the exact same bucket used on all kinds of GM vehicles back in the day, including Monte Carlos & Corvettes... If that's the case, then it seems like this shouldn't be a hard part to find.

So to sum up, my questions are:
Am I looking at the correct part?
Are the steel buckets available just by themselves? I really don't need new chrome rings, nor bulbs. (I might need new adjuster screws, though.)
Am I totally out of my reckoning as for what's a reasonable price here? I was expecting them to be closer to, say, $20 a piece.

Nothin', huh? Maybe I'll try the WTB section, after I rack up enough posts to be able to start a thread there. I'm not ready to swap over to the composite headlamps front end, but maybe someone who's done the swap might have the old buckets still lying around.

By the way, what's the correct terminology for these headlamps? Are mine considered "single" or "dual"? And are the composite ones "dual" or "quad"?

Do you have a picture of what you're looking for? There's a bunch of work trucks at my local junkyard currently.

This is my R side headlamp assembly. A previous owner welded a bolt right to the top of the bucket where the adjuster used to be. It's so far out of adjustment now that the beam hits the ground about 30 feet in front of my truck. (at least it's not blinding other drivers)

I see that it's also missing a couple of screws for the chrome trim ring, but those won't be hard to find. Once I find a replacement bucket and get an adjuster screw back in place, I can get this thing aligned again.

Found one! Got it from a junkyard for $5. I had to wander through the lot and pick through a few bad ones first. A lot of them were too rusty to bother with. But I found what I was looking for on a poor old '93.

Got it installed already, with an actual adjuster in place of the old bolt. Just gotta wait for it to get dark so that I can fine-tune the adjustment. Thanks for looking!
