I have a 1999 crew cab short bed 4x4 classic style truck. It's a 2500 8600 gvrw with the 454 and 4l80e. I don't know where I want to go with it though, I've been going through 2 options. 1, get some western chassis lowering torsion keys, and a bell tech rear 4 inch drop to achieve a 2/4 drop. Then run some 295/45r18 front and rear and have it be a 4x4 street truck. My other option I've been considering is get the 4" rcd knuckle lift and and run some 20x14s with either 33's or 35's, possibly even some 36x15.50 I found. What do you guys think?

Lift it!! Just my taste I prefer stock or lifted 4x4. If it was 2wd then that's a toss up.
What you use ur truck for is also big factor.

The truck will be used for daily driving and possibly racing as I'll be starting an engine build for it soon

Keeping the 454, turbo'd runnin on corn, and possible nv4500 swap down the road. For racing I'd like to take to the strip and occasional "sanctioned" street races

I agree. I love lowered trucks. It sounds different and I like that. If you're not going of road I wouldn't lift it.

Personally I'd keep it stock, clean it up and upgrade it, rebuild it and make it new; simple stuff like tune, exhaust, tasteful body mods.
A 454 isn't really a "race" motor per say, they're not to great at higher RPMs, heavy as hell; plus truck weight being an issue I would rather use something lighter, such as a RCSB C1500 with a built 350 and a manual valve body 4L80E...an almost 7 to 8K pound truck versus a small frame truck that you could get the weight down below 4K. Course I could be completely wrong on all of this, someone with a little bit better knowledge on this can step it.

That's just me though. Whatever you wind up doing will be interesting, definitely looking forward to updates on this truck though!
