Welcome to the forum, nice job. Your truck looks grate. As for swapping in power, well what do you want, and how much do you want to spend. Like the sign in the speed shop said when I was a kid, speed cost money, how fast do you want to go.

It is an easier swap to go with the 383. As for power, well it depends on what mods you do. My 97 5.7 L (350) will out run a stock 5.3L. I have a bunch of mods, but I haven't been inside the engine any farther than the intake. Basically just exhaust and programmed with a Jet tuner. The OE performance of these two engines is very close. The 5.7L has a little better bottom end torque, and the 5.3 L is a little better at higher RPMs. But they are close. A 383 will out perform ether of these engines. The true power of an engine is in the heads and cam. The more air ~ fuel you put into, and the better the exhaust flows out of the engine, the more power it will make.

Very nice looking truck. Although I AM partial to red [emoji1303].

I went LS with my truck because I wanted on board with the cool kids. The LS platform is so reliable and easy to work on and with as well. I went lq4 because I HAD to have a 6.0.
